New Inn Tupton FC Just a bunch of lads attempting to kick a ball around on Sunday mornings in the Chesterfield League Div 5. ⚽️🟢⚪️

11/10/2026

Despite the poor showing on the pitch Today, it was much better back at our new place of residence for some post match drink and AMAZING scran The New Inn Tupton👀

With the unfortunate news coming down the grapevine that the Woodthorpe’s closing down for the foreseeable, we as a club have made the decision to head down the road and re invent ourselves as the New Inn Tupton FC👌
A new era we’re looking forward to, big thanks to Dean and David at the New Inn for taking us in👊

Not to forget, we’ve also moved pitch… we’re now playing our home games down at Egstow Rec in Clay Cross, if anyone’s ever interested in coming down to watch Dingull and Barrs bicker with themselves, and anyone in a 3 mile radius for 90 mins on a Sunday morning, great entertainment 🤣

New pitch, new (inn) pub but the same faces❤️

Up the Woody/New Inn.

Full Time Woodthorpe Inn 0-1 Elm Tree, another disappointing Sunday for us on the pitch.

We started well had 2/3 half decent chances and somehow Cauntys effort was denied by the woodwork, but in true Woody fashion we let our opponents get a chance against the run of play and found ourselves behined🤦‍♂️

Unfortunately we couldn’t get going after that and we fell to defeat for the 2nd game in a row. Time to re group and go again👍

The game wasn’t without drama however, we ended up with more cards than attempts on goal🤣

Mayo received one late in the 1st half after he got studded in the leg and the Elm Tree man tripped over him🤔
Then in a moment of madness with 5 minutes to go, Pebble who is usually the calmest man on the pitch decided he’d had enough… went flying into a challenge near the touchline which resulted in the Elm Tree boys sprinting 40 yards to come confront Pebble.

Couple of our lads stepped in the way to keep things calm, including Lats who was running the line🤣
Pebble received just a yellow, luckily…

The ref also strangely decided on the same punishment for Lats’ part in the handbags🤷‍♂️ he was then subsequently given a straight red card for using some rather colourful language🤦‍♂️

Full-time came and that was it, or so we thought….

Barrsy wanted in on the action, after being warned by the ref already he decided to give him a piece of his mind, this time the ref decided it was just a yellow🤣

Cheers to the Elm Tree lads for coming back to our new pub (see next post👀) well done today and good luck for the season lads👍

This morning we made the short journey to Holmewood, unfortunately didn’t quite go as planned.

We started slow and our opponents punished us for it, we found ourselves 3-0 down after 25 mins👎

We did pull one back, a fantastic ball by Fred to slide DD9 in and was finished cleverly by Pebble, game on?👀
Of course not, the ‘comeback’ was short lived🤣 Holmewood made it 4-1 minutes later just before HT🤦‍♂️

We came out 2nd half and tried to have a go, not until the hosts got a 5th though🤔
SlickRick pulled one back and a Danny Caunt penalty with seconds remaining meant the game finished 5-3.

Tough one to take for us, time to re-group and go again.
Credit to Holmewood though and best of luck for the season ahead lads👍

Goalscorers- Pebble, Rick and Little fella

MOTM - Gaffer Reddish for slipping on his arse when trying to retrieve the ball late on🤣. Definitely the highlight of our morning🤦‍♂️

Into the hat for round 2 of the Derbyshire cup🎩

We cruised to a 1-3 victory away at Staveley Town FC
The Day wasn’t off to the best start when 3 lads pulled out due to illness and injury🤣. Luckily Al and Chris were on hand to fill in👌

An absolutely unbelievable start from us. 3 goals in the opening 20. Dingull grabbed 2 with his weaker left foot (been watching Lats too much) and Cory Walker’s claiming the other, despite there possibly being a argument for own goal🤔

We were in dreamland, 3 to the good without really getting out of 2nd gear.

That said, Staveley did have the ball in our net but it was flagged offside and ruled out, much to the dismay of goal-scorer Mr Cooper who proceeded to start verbally abusing Bill running the line and was subsequently booked🤣
However he wasn’t done there… when asked if that’s how he ended up with his old school nickname due to his potty mouth he told Lats he’s “going to fu***ng smash” him, which he didn’t.
Thankfully he picked the dummy up and got on with the game😷

HT came around and we were 3 to the good👊.

Second half the tide turned, Staveley had all the chances. Barrs pulled off some brilliant saves, a few goal line clearances.
We remained solid, until the last couple mins of the Game. Goosey pushed Cooper over and the referee awarded a spot kick, Cooper then started celebrating like he’d scored the winner until he was promptly reminded of the scoreline by the Woodthorpe bench🤣
Penalty dispatched for 1-3.

Full-time, Staveley Town 1-3 Woodthorpe,
A solid performance from the lads but still lots to work on.
Big thanks to Staveley Town for food in pub after, best of luck for your season lads👍

Sundays league is back, and so are we😮‍💨🔥

Nothing better than opening day victory, 5 goals with 5 different scorers.
Not only that it was a top team performance where every single player had a great game💪

We started well, had all the ball and had 2/3 early chances but it was Rose and Crown who took the lead, a goal kick not dealt with properly allowed the opposition 1v1 with Barrsy who was well beat, 1-0 down😳

We finally made one of our 20 chances count, Goose got on the end of a loose ball and converted to make it 1-1 at HT
We knew we had to start the 2nd half strong as the break would give our opposition chance to re set, and that they did🤦‍♂️

Early in the 2nd half another goal kick wasn’t dealt with so Rose and Crown found themselves 1v1 again, this time taking him out and our opposition were awarded a spot kick.
Converted to make it 2-1.

We soon got back in control and eventually we started taking our chances, 2 quick fire goals turned the game on its head and we had the lead for the first time.
Deegan blasted one into the roof of net to level it and then shortly after Buncle (uncle Bunt) got on the end of a cross, his header landing at uncle Ricks feet who stuck it in👊

We didn’t sit back and defend our lead though, With 10 mins to go we struck again twice
Chris Day got on the end of Houltys 300th cross of the game and finally put one in🤣
Then Kian Barlow got the 5th, a brilliant finish from edge of box had the keeper beat.

FT Rose and Crown 2-5 Woodthorpe Inn.

Great start, can only improve on Today❤️

We look forward to facing Staveley Town in Derbyshire cup in 2 weeks time.

Last night was our end of season du, fantastic weather for it☀️🍻
Few sore heads and one singed head 🫣

Few of us went to Kathmandu for a all you can eat curry buffet, where Barrsy smashed his personal best seeing off 5 plate fulls😳🤣

Headed back to Woody for some serious supping🍻
Mayo was presented with both managers and players POTY awards👏

Dingull also got his hands on a trophy, bellend of the year. Well deserved mate🤣🔔🔚

We look forward now to next season, great group of lads we’ve got (unless you’ve played against us you probably think different🤣)

Up the Woody🌳❤️

FT: Carr Vale 2-2 Woodthorpe Inn FC

We gad the chances today to get all 3 points, the Carr Vale keeper made 3/4 brilliant saves👏 despite us playing some good football it wasn’t enough.

We started horribly. 2 mins in a ball over top finds the Carr Vale man who was wiped out by our 3rd stand in keeper of the season Dyl🤣
Everyone thought it was a penalty and red card, however Ralph saw it different… gave a free kick and a yellow card.
Carr Vale scored from the resulting free-kick, may as-well of been a peno🤷‍♂️

Not long after another ball over the top caused us trouble, the Vale man sent a cross in which flew over everyone into the bottom corner🤦‍♂️.

We had some decent chances but struggled to create and 2 chances for Vale had us trailing by 2 at the break.

We eventually got a goal. Caunty knobbed one in to half the deficit.
We should have had a couple more, Deano forcing the opposition keeper to make 2 worldy saves
Eventually with a minute or so left on the clock the ball fell to Lats whose shot took a nick off the defender to take it under the Vale keeper to make it 2-2🙏

Unfortunately today’s result means Courage pip us to 2nd place, a disappointing end to what’s been a good season for us.

Goalscorers - Caunty and Lats

MOTM - Deegan, excellent today👏

We go again next season, whatever division we’re in…
Hopefully we’ll retain the majority of our squad, a great bunch of lads (except Dingull). It’s been an absolute pleasure this season❤️

FT: New Houghton 3-1 Woodthorpe Inn

Unfortunately we came up short Today in a big match at the top of the table.

First half was brilliant from us. Defended great and took our chance when it came, a truly shocking corner from Pebble somehow pea rolled its way to Loz who was left completely free to tap the ball in.
What else do you expect from Loz, one game every 6 months from our midfield maestro and he always gets a goal🤣

Few great saves from Barrsy really kept us ahead going into HT 1-0 up.

2nd half started the same, couple chances for either side but eventually after 60 mins Houghton got their goal, then another…. And then another🤦‍♂️
Seemingly we fell apart, our heads dropped and their tails were up with the league title up for grabs.

Full time whistle came and with that any remaining hopes of us winning the league were sadly gone.
Speaking of… congratulations to New Houghton on winning the league. Fully deserved lads👍
2 great games between the sides this season, and thanks for the hospitality post game👌

We look forward to our final game of the season next week away at Carr Vale❤️

Goal scorer - Loz

MOTM - Harry👌

FT: Hasland 1-4 Woodthorpe Inn👊

Last night we made the short trip to Hasland school, despite only having 10 players confirmed on the morning of the game we managed to have 16 for kick off, midweek games eh🤦‍♂️

Appreciate all the boys who either started their night shifts late or finished work early to make sure we had the squad❤️

An absolute horrific start, 5 mins in after barely seeing the ball Hasland punted it long, wind carried it over our defenders and the Hasland forward was first to react and put it away😳

It didn’t get any better for us, unfortunately our keeper Stu pulled up with an injury 25 mins in meaning Mayo had to go between the sticks.

We eventually got our goal after numerous chances, Danny Caunt got us level before the break after some great football down the right, great strike to finish the move off… 1-1 at HT.

2nd half was a stressful one for us🤣 Hasland sat deep, defended well but chance after chance squandered from us🤦‍♂️
Somehow we weren’t awarded a penalty on the 65th min, the Hasland skipper showed off some serious black belt karate skills, sent Deano flying into the air with a impressive fly kick inside the box… nothing given😳.

We eventually got our goals in the last 10 to seal all 3 points😅…

Danny Caunt got his 2nd of the evening, well taken goal from the edge of box again.
Our two centre halves linked up for the 3rd, loose ball from a corner, sent back in with a beautiful cross from Dingull found Fats at back stick who turned it goalwards best of the night 👌
Deano ended what’s probably his longest game streak without a goal (3 games🤣). Brilliant finish taking him to 21 for the season👀

Overall not a bad performance just lacked end product, made it much harder than it needed to be😅
Fair play to Hasland however, defended well for 80 mins. Good luck for rest of season lads👍

Goalscorers - Cauntyx2, Lats and Deano

Motm - Caunty👊

12/04/2026

Disappointing result for us today, 2-2 draw away at Brimington.

We started well, had a few chances but we finally broke the deadlock and went 1 up. Lats finding back of the net, again with his supposedly weaker left foot🤣🤷‍♂️

But we went sloppy after that. Letting the ball bounce from a GK and Brim capitalised, through 1 on 1 buried their chance. Flag was up for offside but the ref wasn’t interested 🤦‍♂️
5 mins later fats really went from hero to zero, ref judged him to have pulled the Brim lad down and awarded a penalty and of course they put it away to make it 2-1🙄

HT came. We knew we had to step it up, despite having more of the ball and better chances we trailed at the break.

We were awarded a penalty with 15 to go, handball by the Brim defender and of course set piece maestro Danny Caunt buried it… game on.

Chance after chance in the last 10. Lack of end product and just nearly moments didn’t quite get us a winner and the game ended 2-2.

Big 3 games remaining, we also need some results to go our way if we have any chance of the title🙏

Big thanks to Brim for putting food on in pub after, best of luck for remainder of the season lads👍

Goalscorers - Lats and Caunt

MOTM - Caunty.
