I’m not one for a bikini pic, I feel like everyone who knows me knows I fully dress like Adam Sandler 95% of the time 🤣
But for once in my life on holiday, I thought - take the pic & bloody post it!!!
I train hard, I look after myself and I eat well 70-80% of the time, but if I’m being completely honest, the one thing that gets me down is that the second I step on a plane until I get back home, I bloat horrendously.
I don’t fit into most of the clothes I take on holiday, I’m uncomfortable, sometimes in pain and it genuinely feels like I have no room to breathe. I’ve been taking tablets to help with it for a year and a half at that too.
For once, I woke up feeling better about myself in a bikini. Don’t get me wrong, I still felt more bloated than I would at home - especially being due on, but it’s still better than I’ve felt on previous holidays.
I’ve struggled with my periods and severe bloating since I was at school so it’s nothing new to me. But knowing it’s something you deal with regularly doesn’t make you feel any more comfortable, especially when you’re in a bikini for most of the day.
One thing I will always stand by is that these feelings on holiday are temporary!!
Your body is naturally going to look and feel different. Different food, changes in routine, water retention, flying, alcohol, your period etc, there are so many things that can affect how you look and feel, and none of them mean you’ve suddenly gained loads of body fat or undone all your hard work.
What you can do is learn to love your body through the different stages of your life.
We’re all busy, stressed, tired, hormonal, travelling, celebrating & going through things that can change how our bodies look from one day to the next.
Focus less on what it looks like and more on what it can do. As a by-product of training and looking after yourself, your shape will change, you’ll feel stronger, you’ll feel better from the inside out and eventually, you’ll give less of a s**t about what you look like because you’ll feel fu***ng strong, capable and confident in what your body can do!!
