⚽️ Match Review ⚽️

Samba Yellows 2️⃣
Somersal Inferno 2️⃣

Another beautiful day of sunshine ☀️ and another great game of football from the lads!

The message before the game was simple: tackle hard, be first to the ball and utilise the wings. I think today was definitely a game of two halves, but there was plenty to be proud of.

In the first half, we achieved everything we set out to do. We were first to the ball, worked hard for each other and played some lovely football, with some really good passing and movement on display.

We opened the scoring with a stunning long-range effort from our captain, Isaac, finding the bottom corner perfectly. ⚽️ What a finish!

Not long after, our centre-back Lyndon stepped up once again with another fantastic goal from around halfway! That’s two long-range goals in two weeks now. 🔥⚽️

Somersal definitely stepped things up in the second half and started winning more of those important battles for the ball, which put us on the back foot at times. They scored a fantastic strike to get themselves back into the game before equalising from a corner. That’s something we’ll definitely look at and work on, as we know we can defend that situation better.

What I loved, though, was that we never stopped pushing. We continued to create chances, kept working for each other and looked for that winning goal. Unfortunately, the ball just didn’t seem to fall our way in the second half.

Most importantly, the progress this team is making week after week is fantastic to see. The boys are developing, learning from every game and, most importantly, keeping their heads up and staying motivated. That attitude will take them a long way. 💛

🏆 MAN OF THE MATCH – FRED 🏆

Fred, take a bow! A hugely deserved Man of the Match today. 👏

Fantastic footwork, worked incredibly hard, some excellent tackling and a determination to win the ball that was second to none. You gave everything for the team today and were a pleasure to watch.

Well done, Fred! You should be really proud of yourself. 👏⚽️

Well done to every single player today. Another game, another learning experience and another step forward for this team. 💛

See you all at training Tuesday. Have a lovely weekend, everyone! 👊🏻

⚽️ MATCH REVIEW ⚽️

Samba Yellows 3️⃣ – Wirksworth 5️⃣

Despite the on-and-off rain, it turned out to be a great morning for football! ☔️⚽️

We knew we were coming up against a very good Wirksworth side after some really close battles with them last season, and today’s game certainly didn’t disappoint. It was another competitive game with plenty of good football from both teams.

There were a few decisions that didn’t quite go our way and a couple of opportunities that we could have taken, and I think a draw would have been a fair reflection of the game. But football doesn’t always work that way, and today Wirksworth came away with the three points.

Our message to the team before kick-off was simple: stay in your positions, look to pass the ball and close everything down, especially knowing how dangerous they can be when breaking quickly.

I honestly think every single player put in a shift today and played their part. 👏

Leb got us on the scoresheet with a confidently taken penalty, Lyndon produced an absolutely beautiful strike from the halfway line, and Ted added another solid finish from the penalty spot. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

At half time, we encouraged the lads to make more use of the wings, and whenever we did that, we looked a real threat. There were some great opportunities created, and on a few occasions, releasing the ball just a couple of seconds earlier could have seen us get in behind their defence.

Defensively, I thought we worked really hard and, for large parts of the game, made very few mistakes. Wirksworth scored some fantastic goals, and sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say they were excellent finishes.

Nancy was fantastic throughout and gave the team so much confidence with some excellent shot stopping. 🧤👏

There really is nothing to be disappointed about with that performance. We saw some great football, plenty of determination and some outstanding individual efforts.

I thought Ted really stood out today with his determination to want the ball and keep getting involved, and he thoroughly deserved his goal. Lyndon was fantastic in supporting the defence and working hard for the team, while Nancy gave us that important confidence at the back.

But our Man of the Match 🏆 goes to Jake! 👏

Jake’s work rate today was absolutely impeccable. He battled for everything, made some brilliant clearances and interceptions, and never stopped working for his teammates. A fantastic individual performance and a thoroughly deserved award.

Well done, Jake. Take a bow! 👏🏆

Most importantly, lads, keep your heads up. There was plenty to be proud of today. We know exactly what we need to keep working on, and games like this will only make us better.

Thanks as always for all the support.

We go again next week! 👊🏻⚽️

⚽️ MATCH REVIEW ⚽️

Samba Yellow 2️⃣
Samba Blue 0️⃣

Well, I have never been more excited to write a match review! 😂

Bragging rights are well and truly secured!! 🏆🙌

I think we can all agree that was one hell of a team performance from start to finish. Every single player worked for the team, battled for every ball and gave absolutely nothing less than 110%. We honestly could not be any prouder of the boys today. ❤️

The team talk was simple:

Work hard. Chase every ball. Work as a team.

And my goodness, did the boys deliver! 👏

The work rate today was incredible. The movement, passing and real intention to always go forward was fantastic to watch.

A special mention has to go to our defensive line, who were absolutely outstanding today. They didn’t put a foot wrong and provided such a solid backbone for the whole team. Strong, composed and determined from the first minute to the last. 💪

And at the other end, our forward players were constantly moving, creating space, making runs and never giving up. The way they worked together was the perfect complement to the fantastic work happening behind them.

We saw some brilliant link-up play for the first goal.

A super Sammy throw-in, followed by fantastic determination from Isaac to get the shot away, and then the rebound was followed up with an absolute thunderbolt from Joel to make it 1-0! ⚡️🥅

Then came what can only be described as a Goal of the Season contender from Lucas! 🤯

From around 20 yards and from an acute angle, Lucas sent the ball over the keeper at pace. It hit the underside of the bar and landed perfectly in the corner of the net.

Take a bow, young man! 👏🔥

I could quite easily write a paragraph about every single player today because they all gave a world-class performance and played their part in what was a fantastic team victory.

But I have to finish with our Man of the Match… Rilee! 🏆👏

With absolutely no hesitation, Rilee agreed to play out of position today and step in as our stand-in goalkeeper.

And my goodness, did that boy perform!

Multiple fantastic saves in both halves. Tips over the bar, tips around the post and save after save when the team needed him most.

He played with so much confidence and showed exactly what it means to put the team first. ❤️

Rilee wasn’t just our goalkeeper today, he was a true team player.

And perhaps the best moment of the day came at the final team talk, when every single player was shouting for Rilee to receive the Man of the Match trophy.

That tells you everything you need to know about this group of boys. 👏❤️

They celebrate each other. They support each other. They work for each other.

And that is exactly what makes this team so special. ⚽️❤️

What a performance. What a team. What a day!

Thanks as always for all your incredible support.

Have a great weekend everyone! 👊🏻⚽️❤️

⚽️ MATCH REVIEW ⚽️

Samba 2
Hasland 1

Welcome back, everyone! 👊🏻

Our first competitive game of the new season is complete, and what a way to start! After a well-earned break, we think the decision to give the players some time away from football was absolutely the right one. It was lovely to see them back out there today, looking happy, excited and ready to play football again. We think the coaches needed the break too! 😂

It was fantastic to come away with the win today, with two lovely goals from Jake. We thought the whole team filled the pitch really well, held their positions and worked incredibly hard, particularly in the first half. There was some really positive football played, and plenty of signs that the work we put in last season is already starting to show.

Most importantly, every single player played their part today. ❤️

Everyone battled, encouraged each other, worked for their teammates and put in a proper shift, whatever position they were asked to play. There were smiles, determination and some fantastic team spirit throughout. As coaches, that’s exactly what we love to see, and we couldn’t be prouder of the commitment shown by every player today.

We did look a little tired in the second half, but that’s completely understandable after such a long break. Fitness and sharpness will naturally take a little time to return, and we’re really looking forward to watching the team build on this over the coming weeks.

There is plenty for us to work on, but equally plenty to be excited about. This is just the beginning, and we’re looking forward to seeing this group continue to grow, develop and, most importantly, enjoy their football together. ⚽️❤️

⭐️ MAN OF THE MATCH ⭐️

This could genuinely have gone to any one of them today, but please take a bow, Ezra! 👏🏻

A proper battling performance from start to finish. Strong in the tackles, determined to win the ball and showing a real desire to get stuck in and help the team. Absolutely brilliant, Ezra! 👏🏻

A huge well done to every single player today. We’re incredibly proud of you all. ❤️

Have a fantastic weekend, everyone, and thank you as always for your continued support.

What a start to the new season! 👊🏻⚽️

⚽️ Home Ground Celebrations ⚽️

We are incredibly proud to be part of the Samba family, and together we continue to move our club forward. This weekend marked a special milestone as we welcomed the first game on our new home ground.

⚽️ Samba Blues U12s vs Samba U11s ⚽️

A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time before the match to put up the nets and prepare the pitch. Your support helped make the day possible, and it is greatly appreciated.

The game certainly lived up to the occasion. For our U11s, it was their first experience playing 9v9 on a larger pitch, and they embraced the challenge brilliantly.

Both teams played with smiles on their faces, plenty of energy, and a fantastic attitude throughout. The match was full of exciting end-to-end football, with excellent passing, great link-up play, impressive positional awareness, and outstanding teamwork on display. It was a pleasure to watch and be part of.

A massive well done to every player involved for showing the true spirit and values of grassroots football. You all did yourselves, your teams, and the club proud. 👏⚽️💙

🏆 Managers Player 🏆

Jake is quite simply the rock and foundation of this team. Every successful team needs someone who brings calmness, stability, and confidence to those around them, and this player does exactly that every time he steps onto the pitch.

His football intelligence, understanding of the game, and awareness are second to none. He reads situations before they develop, makes smart decisions under pressure, and provides a reassuring presence that his teammates can always rely on.

What makes him even more valuable is his versatility. Whether he’s asked to play in defence, midfield, or wherever the team needs him, he approaches every role with the same commitment and quality. Strong in the tackle, dominant in the air, blessed with a fantastic first touch, and capable of picking out a pass that unlocks a defence, he possesses all the attributes of a complete footballer.

Time and again, he has the ability to turn difficult situations into opportunities, making something out of nothing through his awareness, composure, and determination. His influence on this team goes far beyond what appears on the scoresheet, and his teammates are better for having him alongside them.

This season, he has been a leader, a role model, and a player we can always depend on. Please join me in congratulating him on a truly outstanding season.
Our manager’s player of the year Jake.

🏆 Parents Player 🏆

Sam is someone who embodies everything you could ask for in a teammate. His athleticism is second to none, and every time he steps onto the pitch, he gives nothing less than 110%.

His grit, determination, and motivation are evident in every match. He works tirelessly for the team, never shying away from a challenge and never afraid to put in a strong tackle when it’s needed. His defensive awareness and reading of the game are outstanding, allowing him to break up attacks and protect his teammates time and time again.

What makes him such a valuable player, though, is his ability to turn defence into attack. Whenever the opportunity presents itself, he’s eager to drive forward, support the team going the other way, and make things happen.

His commitment, energy, and attitude have been a huge asset to the squad all season long. He leads by example through his actions and consistently gives everything for the badge and his teammates.

Please join me in celebrating and congratulating him on an outstanding season our parents player of the year Sam.
