Heading out for a walk or run near water? Take a moment for safety.

Spending time by rivers, lakes or the coast is a great way to unwind, but in Wales, more people drown after accidentally falling into water than during any planned activity.

Here’s how to stay safe:
• Check the weather forecasts for your area
• Tell someone where you’re going and when you’ll be back
• Carry a mobile phone so you can call for help.
• Take note of warning signs
• Always supervise children near water
• Keep a safe distance from the edge, especially in wet or windy conditions

However you end up in the water, if you end up in difficulty, Float to live.

It’s another great example of how even a compact pump track can give a community somewhere to ride, build confidence and develop skills.
