Keep up to date with our Greystone 2016/17s journeys through football

31/10/2026

Our 2017s fielded 2 teams today, as they hosted Upper Annandale FC - Juniors Queen of the South Community Trust & Morton Thistle Juniors 2017s

As per, the squad hustled and harried every minute of every game. Some tenacious defending, complimenting the sublime individual and team moves going forward, with goals a plenty ⚽️

Captain today for Impact, Freddie who made some key saves when needed, but springboarding counter attacks with his positional play as sweeper keeper, passed Captain duties onto todays PotD, Harvey who played as a sole defender and learning to stay composed and pick passes forward, which he got 99.9% correct. Great to see learning from recent trainings 👏

Captain for Dynamo, Larann, dug deep while pressed by attackers and utilised his size to regain posession and move the ball forward. Larann passed on Captain Duties to todays PotD, Carter, who was also celebrating his birthday yesterday 🎂. Carter played several positions and proved more than able at each. Strong, brave, and confident on and off the ball 💪

Well done lads.

A huge thanks, and a massive well done to Norrie and Meryn, who supported our small game day squad today, and more than showed they are up to the task of fitting in with our kids. Meryn, breaking up play and some great progressive passing, as well as grabbing 2 debut goals. Norrie who never stopped running all day, whipping in some Beckhamesque crosses for the attackers to feed on all day long. Superb girls 🙌

Onto the next 🔴⚫️⚪️🟢⚽️

☀️Cracking morning at Crichton☀️

Greystone Rovers 2016s hosted Loch Ryan at a sun kissed Crichton pavilion this morning in a late arranged game to get both teams back rolling after the October school holiday break.
Both teams put on a great display of football over three 20 min periods. Greystone took the game to the visitors early with Noah P wriggling free down the wing, his cross was tipped onto the cross bar by the keeper and fell to the feet of Harry M who was able to stroke home from a couple of feet.
Loch Ryan grew into the game and by the middle period managed to find the net themselves.
The final period was another keenly contested affair with some good passing movements from both sets of players. Goal of the day came from Thomas D who collected a blocked cross about twenty yards out and sent a screamer into the top corner.
No player of the day today as it was a late arranged game but big thanks to Loch Ryan for making the trip across.
Some Oct holiday rust removed for our Rovers as we head into the last 5-6 weeks of the season.

Back in action this saturday 🔴⚫️⚪️🟢⚽️

18/10/2026

Our 2017s hosted Soccer Bees Girls Morton Thistle Juniors 2017s Queen of the South Community Trust Annan Athletic Community Football & Galloway Thistle today at the Crichton.

In the glorious sunshine, both teams displayed fast and slick passing moves with some fine finishing. Some outrageous strikes thrown in as well. With both teams struggling for numbers, their desire and application never dimmed. Some effort team 🙌

Finlay kicked on as captain for the green team today . Full of energy, tackled hard, scored a couple and assisted a few, good to see.
Finlay passed on his armband to Larann today. Larann was sharp from the start, driving forward, moving the ball on quickly when needed and used his size to great effect. Larann got on the score sheet in most of the games pulling the trigger early as well as pinging the ball in to great areas for his teammates. A performance worthy of the armband next time out. 🔴⚪️💪🏼

Special mention to wee Hazza who grabbed his first 2017 goal today after going close with a few rocket efforts 👏 & thanks to Freddie for stepping in to help with GK duties 🧤

Onto the next 🔴⚫️⚪️🟢⚽️

⭐️SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITY⭐️

As Greystone Rovers 2016 & 2017s approach the bleaker, cold months, we are seeking to kit the team out with a new waterproof/warm layer for training.

If any local business would be keen to sponsor a small/large amount, please get in touch.

In return, your sponsorship:

● Will get your company name and logo seen on football kits by parents, supporters and the local community.

●Will gain regular local exposure throughout the football season.

●Will help reduce costs to parents in an already tough financial climate

●Will help children stay active, build confidence and develop teamwork and life skills.

●Your company won't just be advertised locally, but across the UK, as we have regularly attended Tournaments in the Central Belt, Ayrshire, Cumbria, and Morecambe. With 2027 holding similar events, as well as Flamingoland!

●Most importantly, invest in the next generation and help create opportunities for local children.

Sponsoring our team is more than just advertising your business. It's an opportunity to raise your company's profile, support the local community and make a real difference to young children's lives

Any help is gratefully received 🙌

🦁Rovers Roar🦁

Our 2017s hosted league fixtures at the Crichton this morning with Soccer Bees Girls, Queen of the South Community Trust and Morton Thistle Juniors 2017s in attendance.

With just 1 team playing in the fixtures, and no regular goalkeeper, net minding duties were shared out between Proudy, Carter, Jayke, Quinn, & Ollie, who all managed to keep clean sheets with some determined shot stopping 🧤🥅

Outfield, the team played with the usual skill and determination, and produced goals galore. From silky individual goals to some fantastic team goals. Special mention to oor G, who took the ball out the air like a prime Bergkamp.

Quinn carried out today's Captain duties leading the defensive press from the front and using his awareness to bring others into the game 🙌 Quinn passes on the armband to todays PotD, Liam, who scored 2 screamers in the first game, and was a machine in winning back possession and driving the team forward 💪 Well done Liam 👏

As we head into the last week of official training before the holidays, if parents can be available at training sessions for Alex Radley to lead game day chant practice 🎵🎶🎵🎶🤣

Onto the next🔴⚫️⚪️🟢⚽️
