For parents, carers, staff and users of Broughton High School In May 2006, the Scottish Parliament passed the Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act.
The Act was introduced to help parents, carers and schools work together as partners in children's learning. In August 2006 parents at BHS successfully established a Parent Council (the representative part of the Parent Forum, the wider body in which all parents and guardians at the school are automatically enrolled). Our school values and welcomes the help of parents and other family members. Man
y can attend meetings to discuss and debate school matters, however, many also engage from afar. Engagement through other methods such as email is equally greatly valued so please get in touch even if you cannot attend meetings. We need support with school activities and events, and in supporting the management of the school. There are many formal and informal ways of helping out. Email the PC at: [email protected]
Alongside the Parent Council, the Broughton High School Association raises funds to pay for projects, trips and other activities and equipment which are not usually covered by the school’s budget. Fundraising activities include running cafes at the school on Saturday mornings during community classes and on Sundays for regular chess tournaments. We also organise social events for parents, staff and pupils. Email the BHSA at: [email protected]
The Broughton High School Association is a registered charity, number SCO17010.
