Bowls Scotland National Finals - Day 6 update
Lorraine and Erin were in action in their last 16 ladies pairs tie against Hope Mason BC. They put in a great effort but it wasn’t to be today with their opponents getting the win.
That brings to an end the Dean BC Ayr adventure for another year and what a week it has been. To Jay, Stan, Reece, Lorraine, Erin and Jim everyone at the club is proud of what you have achieved this week! You were all great representatives of the club this week and certainly put the Dean on the map!
The final shout out has to go to our bronze medal winner Jim and we know that medal is something you will cherish!

Bowls Scotland National Finals Day 5 update
Today was the turn of our ladies pair and gents triple to get started! In the gents triple Stan, Moffs and Reece gave it their all but the Coatdyke triple got off to a fast start and unfortunately the lads couldn’t make the comeback. A fantastic effort making it to Ayr and Moffs can now enjoy a well earned break after a busy few days!
In the ladies pair, Lorraine and Erin were up against a strong Melrose pair and found themselves 12-4 down after 9 ends but battled back brilliantly to lead 14-13 after 16 ends. Playing the last end Erin thought she had won the game with a trail of Jack the to the ditch only for her bowl to bounce back out the ditch and up the green with Melrose getting 1 and taking it to an extra end! Thankfully Lorraine and Erin managed to get the job done in the extra end and seal a great win!
Next up they face a pair from Hope Paton BC in Montrose at 9am tomorrow!
Everyone at the Dean is very proud and hoping they can get another win to make it through to the quarters!

Bowls Scotland National Finals Day 4
Today was finals day for the gents over 55 singles with Jim Moffat facing Jim Grant of Northern BC in Aberdeen in the semi final with another early start on the live stream rink for Moffs. This time he remembered his club top!
Unfortunately for Moffs it wasn’t to be today but we are all incredibly proud of him for winning a bronze medal!
Tomorrow we have 2 Dean teams in action with the ladies pairs and gents triples getting underway. The ladies pair are Lorraine Taylor and Erin Smith and the gents triple are Stan Christie, Jim Moffat (yes he’s a busy lad this week!) and Reece Nairn with both teams getting their campaigns underway at 4pm. Good luck to all of them!

Day 3 at Ayr today and what a day it was for Jim Moffat. First up this morning he played Alan Hainey of Glenluce BC and what a battle it was! Live on the feature rink it kept all of us on the edge of our seats with it going down to the wire and Moffs got over the line 21-20! At 20-19 down and match against its fair to say Lady Luck smiled down on Jim with a rather fortuitous wick to save the game. Never up never in! As Moffs would say!
Onto this afternoon and Moffs played Graeme Archer of Cockenzie and Port Seton. Moffs knew this would be a tough match-up but got off to a flyer of a start to lead 13-3 and ran out a 21-8 winner. A fantastic result!
Jim is now into the semi finals tomorrow morning at 9:30AM against Jim Grant of Northern BC in Aberdeen. Again this has been selected for streaming coverage so for those who can’t make it along you can watch the game although Moffs does appreciate Hopefully Jim remembers his top!
With at least a bronze media in the bag Jim has done himself and the club proud and let’s see what tomorrow brings!

Bowls Scotland National Finals Day 1 and 2 update
Yesterday saw the start of the national finals with Jay Smith competing in the Youth Pairs with Daniel Kidd from Goldenacre. They played a pair from Crookston BC and put up a good fight but the pair from Crookston made it through to the next round. We are proud of Jay making it to Ayr and with youth very much on Jay’s side we know he will have many more trips to Ayr!
Today was the turn of Jim Moffat in the over 55 singles against David Hay of Mintlaw BC. In some pretty rough conditions Jim battled through to a fantastic 21-14 win to make it through to the last 16. He goes again tomorrow at 9:30AM and we think he is going to be the featured game on Bowls Scotland’s YouTube and pages for those who can’t make it along to support in person! Good luck to Jim tomorrow from all at the Dean!
