ππ GOOD LUCK, JAMES! ππ
A big night for the club tonight as James Carlton represents Portobello in the East Edinburgh Bowling Association Under 25 Final.
James takes to the green at Postal Bowling Club at 6.15pm, and it would be great to see plenty of Portobello faces there to get behind him.
Reaching a final is a fantastic achievement in itself, so whatever happens tonight, James can be very proud to be representing the club.
If youβre free this evening, head along to Postal and give James your support.
All the very best, James β enjoy the occasion and give it everything! πππ

π€This Week at Portobello Bowling Club
Before we look ahead to another busy week at the club, we want to take a moment to remember Derek Johnston.
Derek was a much-loved and respected member of Portobello Bowling Club for many years. His friendship, humour and love of the game touched so many people, and he will be greatly missed around our green and clubhouse.
On Tuesday at 12 noon, family, friends and fellow members will gather at Seafield Crematorium to say their final farewell. Our thoughts are with Derekβs family and loved ones at this difficult time, and we know many of our members will be there to pay their respects.
The attached poster contains all of this weekβs fixtures, competitions and social events. As always, we wish every team and every member the very best of luck in the days ahead.
Rest in peace, Derek. You will always be remembered as part of the Portobello Bowling Club family. ππ

π Kenny Payne Trophy Winner
Congratulations to Norman MacLeod, winner of the 2026 Kenny Payne Trophy.
Norman produced an excellent performance in Sundayβs final to lift the trophy after a very competitive match against Jane Goodall.
Commiserations to Jane, who played her part in a final contested in the best spirit of the game. Both finalists represented themselves and the club superbly.
A big thank you to everyone who came along to support over the weekend. It was another enjoyable afternoon at Portobello Bowling Club, with great bowling, good company and a fantastic atmosphere around the green.
Congratulations once again to Norman MacLeod, our 2026 Kenny Payne Trophy Champion. ππ
