🏐 S3/4 West Festival | What a day of volleyball! 🏐

Yesterday, Kelvin Hall played host to our S3/4 West Festival, bringing together an incredible 160 young people made 33 teams across 14 schools from the West of Scotland which made for a fantastic day of volleyball!

The standard of volleyball throughout the festival was outstanding. From brilliant rallies and competitive matches to the teamwork, determination and sportsmanship shown across every court, there was so much to be proud of.

A huge congratulations to every person who took part. The performances on court were a real credit not only to the players themselves, but also to the teachers, coaches and staff who continue to support and develop them. 👏

🏆 Our Overall Winners:
💎 Platinum Group - Kyle B
🥇Gold Group - Belmont 1
🥈Silver Group - Renfrew Rockets
🥉Bronze Group - Renfrew Raptors

Congratulations to all four of our group winners on a fantastic achievement! 🎉🏐
With 160 young people competing, it was fantastic to see so many pupils representing their schools, enjoying the game and showcasing the exciting future of volleyball in the West of Scotland.

Well done to everyone involved. You should all be immensely proud! 💪🏐

A tough start for Scotland who took on tournament favourites Iceland in their opening match of the CEV u20 Qualifiers in San Marino.
A strong first set had the teams neck and neck into the 20's but Iceland took to set 25-21.
The experience showed on the Iceland side and they took the next two sets 25-11 & 25-13
Scotland will look to bounce back against Ireland & Northern Ireland as they need to win both to qualify!

Scottish Volleyball is sad to share news of the passing of two of the most imposing Men’s National Team players in our history. Donnie McPherson from Ayrshire Team T.A.S.S. and Neil Stewart from Edinburgh‘s Telford / MIM.
Although fierce opponents in Scottish National League games, they were international teammates in many Scotland matches contributing massively to the development of middle-play and always demonstrated an infectious shared love of the game. Neil was an inspirational GB Captain of the UK and Northern Ireland team who participated in the July 1983 Summer Universiade Games in Edmonton, Canada.
Donnie passed on Saturday, the 26th of September 2026 after a long fight against illness. Neil passed suddenly at home in Sandbank the following day.

It is also with deep sadness to announce the loss of Jean Macleod, who played for Inverclyde VC and was former international player for our Women’s National Team, after a brave battle through illness.

Our deepest condolences go to their families and all those who love them.

Our U20 Women are away in San Marino, ready to compete in the CEV U20 Volleyball European Championship First Round Zonal Qualifier!

With matches against Iceland, Ireland and Northern Ireland, and more, it’s an exciting opportunity for the squad to test themselves against international opposition and represent Scotland.

We’re sending all our support from home to the players, coaches and staff as they get ready to take to the court. A huge amount of hard work and commitment goes into reaching this stage, and we’re proud to see this group wearing the Scotland shirt.

Good luck to everyone in San Marino! Play with pride, back each other and enjoy the experience. We’re all behind you!
