The conversation this month started with money. 👀

More specifically, how differently people perceive value.

A member was telling me about friends who pay over £200 per month for a gym membership that they barely use. And it got us talking about something really interesting...

The things we spend money on aren’t always the things that have the biggest impact on our lives.

Because the value of a gym isn’t the equipment.
It’s not the building.
It’s not even the programming.
The real value is what happens because you keep showing up. It’s the confidence you build. The energy you have at the end of a long day. The friendships you make. The accountability that keeps you going when motivation disappears. The feeling of walking into a room where people know your name and genuinely want to see you succeed.

That’s what our members have created here at The Training Yard; a place where people don’t just exercise.
A place where they become fitter, stronger, healthier versions of themselves and where that change spills over into every other part of life.

Because the best investment you’ll ever make is in yourself.

What’s something you’ve invested in that ended up changing far more than you expected?

What an incredible day at the RAD Acid Athletics Competition 🔥

These events are about so much more than just times and scores, they’re about pushing beyond the limits you think you have, stepping into competition-level intensity, and having an amazing time with the community around you.

We saw some seriously fast performances across the board, and we’re proud of every single person who took part 👏

A huge special shoutout to Emily as well - before this competition, she had never wall balled 6kg before… and then went out and completed 50 reps in her workout and finished the whole thing 💪 Absolutely amazing to watch and such a brilliant example of what these events can bring out in people.

Thank you to everyone who competed, supported and brought the energy ❤️

Most people expect progress to feel dramatic.
Like a big breakthrough. A sudden transformation. A moment where everything finally clicks into place.

But real progress rarely looks like that.
Most of the time, it’s quiet.
It’s turning up to train when you’re tired.
Choosing to go for a walk instead of sitting scrolling.
Getting to bed a bit earlier.
Feeling slightly calmer than you used to.
Having a little more energy for the people around you.
Feeling more confident in your own skin again.
At first, those things feel small. Almost too small to matter.
But over time, they start stacking up.
And then one day, often without even realising when it happened, you look back and notice your whole life feels different.

Have you experienced this?

Sunday musings 🫶🏼

We live in a world that makes slowing down feel unproductive. There’s always another email to answer, another job to finish, another thing asking for your attention. Work follows us home. Phones fill the quiet moments. Even rest can start to feel like something we have to earn.

But have you ever noticed that some of the healthiest habits are usually happening subconsciously on quiet Sundays…

The slower mornings.
The walks.
The coffee in the garden.
The hour away from your phone.
The early night.

Resetting, refilling your cup.

So before the week begins again… what does your ideal Sunday look like?

Longer days, sunshine, packed classes, competitions, events, and a community that just keeps growing 🫶🏼

This month we officially welcomed Emilie to the coaching team, saw record numbers at Run Club, kicked off a brand new training block, and watched so many members challenge themselves both inside and outside the gym.

From the Easter workout atmosphere, to HYROX Cardiff, Kelt-x at Westpoint, HEN-GINE celebrations, and over 150 people on the Run Club waitlist… April reminded us exactly what makes this community so special.

A huge well done to everyone who competed, volunteered, supported, showed up consistently, and kept putting themselves first - whether that meant chasing performance or simply making time to move during a busy season.

At The Training Yard, showing up will always matter most.

If you haven’t already, it’s well worth signing up to our mailing list - this roundup is the short and sensible version 🤓
