Women have been given a lot of reasons to second-guess themselves in the gym.
Don’t eat this. Do more of that. Lift lighter. Train harder. Lose weight. Don’t get “too bulky”. And somehow, amongst all that noise, you’re supposed to work out what’s actually useful.
That’s where good coaching matters.
Not more information for the sake of it, but someone who can help you filter through it, understand what your body actually needs, and build confidence in what you’re doing.
For us, strength training should be something women feel completely at home doing. Taking up space, lifting heavy things, eating enough to support it and getting stronger because of it.
As Emilie says: “it’s not masculine to be strong. It’s empowering.”
And we’re pretty proud of the environment our women have helped create at The Training Yard.
If you’re around Exeter or Topsham and you’ve never quite felt like the weights section was somewhere you belonged… come and meet us. 🫶🏼
