A few out takes from various guide programs and observations we’ve run over the last 18 months or so, an advanced guide program in Anglesey, and two coastal programs in Ireland and more recently Alaska. Each location is unique and has a different set of environmental factors to consider, whether it’s the remoteness of Alaska or the wild water of Wales and Ireland, all ISKGA guides will work to the same core principles.

We’ve just wrapped up on an intensive 16 day guide program in Haines, South East Alaska. During the 16 days we covered leadership and incident management, navigation, coaching, sea survival and expedition skills as well as exploring the region. We also got to see a lot of wildlife, Sea-lions, Humpack Whales, Seals and a lot of Bald Eagles. The Herring are here and the Euchalon (Hooligan) run is about to start and that will herald a lot more cetacean activity in the area. The program has been very intensive and the guides worked really hard and we are happy to announce that we have three new guides joining the ISKGA community. The program also heralds in Joe Oesterling of SEAK expeditions as the National training centre based here in South East Alaska and a new ISKGA Expedition Centre under Michael Graney of Sitka Wild Coast Kayak.
