Double Academy Success at the LLS Awards π
Congratulations to two of our Academy players who were recognised at the recent LLS Awards Day.
π Dom picked up the Most Improved Player award. A reflection of the hard work, commitment and progress he has shown throughout the season. Improvement doesn't happen by accident, and this recognition is thoroughly deserved.
π Jude received the Coach's of the Year award. An award that says as much about attitude, effort and character as it does ability. A fantastic achievement and recognition from the coaching team.
It's great to see Academy players earning recognition beyond their club environment and being rewarded for the standards they bring every week.
Well done Dom and Jude. We look forward to seeing what comes next.

β€οΈ π Old Brodleians RUFC vice-captain and team manager Elena Bunbury feels the response to team-mate Ghee Thompsonβs horrific leg break sums up what grassroots rugby is all about.
The NC 2 North Central (Level 5) side have launched a fundraising campaign to support the rehabilitation of one of their most influential players after a freak injury left her facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
And while the money raised will help fund specialist rehabilitation and physiotherapy, Bunbury, who was the coachesβ player of the season this year, believes the biggest takeaway has been seeing the rugby community unite behind one of its own.
The scrum-half told The Rugby Paper: βYou expect team-mates, parents and people close to the club, but there have also been donations from people who donβt know her that well.
βOur club president, chairman and physio all donated Β£100 and there have been contributions from players on the menβs side and bar staff as well.
βItβs nice for her to see just how many people care...

π Brods Academy β Players' Player of the Season 2025
A huge congratulations to Monty, who has finally received his Brods Academy Players' Player of the Season Award.
The presentation was a little later than planned. While the rest of the squad were gathering for Presentation Day, Monty was unavailable for a very good reason β representing his club in 1st XI cricket.
Between rugby commitments, cricket and the small matter of GCSE examinations, finding a suitable date proved harder than winning the award itself.
The opportunity finally came this week during a well-earned break from revision, when Coach Chris was able to present Monty with his trophy before a quick round of golf against Chris's son [a draw apparently]
The Players' Player Award is one of the most meaningful awards in any team. Voted for by teammates, it recognises not only performances on the pitch but also commitment, attitude, effort and the respect earned from those who train and play alongside you throughout the season.
To be recognised by your teammates is something special, and this award reflects the respect Monty has earned from the players around him throughout the year.
Monty has balanced rugby, cricket and academic studies throughout the season, demonstrating the dedication, resilience and character that Brods Academy values so highly. It is a thoroughly deserved award and a fitting reward for an excellent season.
Everyone at Brods Academy would like to congratulate Monty on this achievement and wish him every success with the remainder of his GCSE examinations.
We would also like to wish all of our Academy players the very best of luck with their GCSEs and other end-of-year exams. The commitment, discipline and work ethic you show on the rugby field are qualities that will serve you well in the classroom and beyond. Work hard, back yourselves and enjoy a well-earned summer once the exams are behind you.
Well done, Monty β a deserving Players' Player and a great representative of the Academy.

Congratulations to Jude Maddison on being named Men's 2XV Young Player of the Season.
Jude was one of last season's Senior Colts and has made the step into adult rugby look effortless. His attitude, commitment and performances throughout the season have marked him out as one of the club's brightest young prospects.
Moving from Colts rugby into the senior game is never easy, but Jude has taken every challenge in his stride and thoroughly deserves this recognition.
A fantastic achievement and hopefully the first of many honours in Brods colours.
Well done, Jude! ππ΄β«

π Academy Success Across the Club π
Congratulations to Tyler Hardy and Paul Turner on picking up awards at the Beavers presentation evening.
Tyler collected the Young Player of the Season award, continuing a strong year after coming through last season's Colts setup and making the step into senior rugby.
Meanwhile, Paul proved that age is just a number by taking home the "In His Prime" award. Some say it's recognition for outstanding performances. Others say it's because nobody could agree on a category that adequately described him.
It's fantastic to see former Academy players and Academy coaches making such a positive impact across the club.
Well done both. The future of Brods looks bright... and apparently so does the prime of certain individuals. ππ€

Big Academy Announcement
We're delighted to welcome Ellie to the Brods Academy coaching team for next season.
Ellie brings a wealth of playing experience and will be helping develop the next generation of Brods players while sharing her knowledge across the academy setup.
As if that wasn't enough, she's also signed up to pull on a Brods shirt herself and will be joining the women's squad next season.
After spending time down south, Ellie has finally seen sense and is making the long journey back to Yorkshire. Apparently the lure of proper rugby, proper tea, and people who know how to pronounce "bath" was simply too much to resist.
Please give Ellie a warm Brods welcome when you see her around the club.
WELCOME ELLIE
