The Victoria Percival Award 25/26.
This award recognises an outstanding contribution to our football club, and this year’s recipient has been, and continues to be absolutely fundamental to the successful running of a club like ours.
He has dedicated countless years of service and, over that time, has taken on almost every role imaginable within the club including our longest serving chairman, a role which he stepped down from last year.
Currently, he serves as a coach, committee member, groundsman, and safeguarding officer, just to name a few.
Like many of us here, we volunteer because we have a vested interest through our children playing for the club. That is where this man’s journey started.
His own children finished with junior football a long time ago, but he continues to give his time, energy, and expertise purely for the good of the club and the wider community. He understands the value that local junior football brings to young people and their families, and he has devoted himself to protecting and growing that environment.
However, his biggest impact is often the part that most people don’t see.
Behind the scenes, he is a huge source of support for both the coaching staff and the committee. In difficult moments, he is a calm, steady, and understanding presence, someone who always acts in the best interests of the children at this club.
He is also famous for recruiting volunteers with the killer phrase that so many of us have fallen for: “It’s only an hour a week.”
His commitment, leadership, and selflessness embody everything this award stands for.
Last Friday evening it was the best honour, for everyone involved with Beacon Rangers, to present the Victoria Percival Club Person of the Year Award 2025/26 to Beacon’s very own, Mr Beacon, Nigel Freeman.
Thank you Nigel, your award is massively deserved
