We’re looking forward to our new Head Professional, George, teaching us a thing or two! 👏

From helping golfers improve their game to sharing his knowledge and experience, we’re excited to see what George brings to Harrogate.

Here he is telling us a little more about why he chose Harrogate and what he likes most about the club so far.

Welcome to the team, George — we can’t wait to learn from you! ⛳️

Our 1st Hole ⛳

A deceptively easy-looking opening Par 4.

Reachable from the tee for the longer hitters, but woe betide any wayward shot, with the entrance to the green well protected.

A great opening hole that rewards a good drive and leaves plenty to think about with the approach.

📖 A little piece of Harrogate Golf Club history… ⛳️

Did you know that Dr Alister MacKenzie remodelled the 17th green at Harrogate Golf Club over 100 years ago?

MacKenzie, one of the most influential golf course architects in history, was involved in improvements to the course in the early 1900s, including the remodelling and lengthening of the 17th and 18th holes.

So significant was the work that a photograph of the newly remodelled 17th green was included in MacKenzie’s 1920 book, Golf Architecture. 📚

That’s a pretty special piece of golfing heritage — and a reminder that Harrogate has had connections to one of the great names in golf course architecture for more than a century.

🏌️ The 17th — MacKenzie influence, over 100 years later.
