What a day on the Thames for the Great River Race! On Saturday we rowed 21.6 grueling, exhilarating miles from Millwall to Richmond, weaving through London’s iconic landmarks and one of the most eccentric flotillas on the planet, everything from Thames watermen cutters and Cornish pilot gigs to skiffs, rafts, and an entire boat full of Smurfs.
The results speak for themselves:
Men’s Crew (Arveth): Started back in position 225 and chased down the fleet with relentless pace. Finished in 2:46:00, crossing the line in 15th place overall out of more than 260 boats. Massive thanks to our amazing Cox, Liz, who did absolutely awesome keeping the boat going in more ways than one!
Women’s Crew (W***y Undagasek): Five of our women teamed up in an independent gig and put in a massive shift, finishing in 3:02:00—taking 49th overall and securing 3rd fastest women’s crew on the day.
A massive effort from both crews across nearly three hours of brutal head-to-head racing, navigating wake, and overtaking boat after boat. London didn’t disappoint, the support from the bridges was electric, and the post-race celebrations in Richmond were thoroughly earned.
