However as time has passed; large companies have become solely focused on high profile, national sponsorship deals, and have turned their back on local works teams and associated sports. Despite this, we continue a strong tradition of fierce competitive rugby on the pitch, playing in the Yorkshire Rugby Football Union Merit League. We also have a vibrant social side, which includes numerous social events, charity fund raising events during the summer, UK tours and monthly nights out. In the past five years BP RUFC has competed in the Hull & East Riding Merit League semi-final three times and the final in 2009. Finally, in 2011 BP RUFC's hard work and commitment to local rugby has paid off as they sucessfuly lifted the Shield when they won the East Yorkshire Merit League. We are a social rugby side that competes in the Yorkshire Rugby Football Union Merit League tables. Like most traditional teams we enjoy many social activities, a good sing song and have a healthy line up of drinking games.
