Leicestershire Squash

A request to all those who have played squash At New Parks Leisure Centre, formerly West Leicester Squash Club or any players wanting this sport to continue.
The Leicester City Council are now considering knocking the whole centre down including one of the few locations in the country with 5 courts with viewing facilities and replace them with social housing.
We are running a petition along with others who use the centre to make it known that these facilities cannot keep being taken away and not replaced.
We were all excited about getting a boost in the game with LA Olympics 2028 not too far away but if the council has its way we will be closed in the new year.
Can I ask you to sign the petition below by pressing the link. I warn you now it is not the slickest site but you do NOT have to pay, click on the copy link and continue. Once done your vote will not count until you receive an email and reply to it. A bit cumbersome but every vote counts.

Thank you for your support and hopefully we can save our courts!!

Save New Parks Leisure facility and squash courts. Please note donation is NOT required.

Congratulations James Bowden - World champion!!

World Masters championships Perth, Australia
In the Men’s 45+ draw, England’s James Bowden [1] lifted his first World Masters title after beating Australia’s Jeff Osborne [5/8] in four games.

Despite falling behind after Osborne claimed the opening game 4-11, Bowden showed his resilience to claw his way back in the second, winning 11-7, before continuing his comeback to win the third 11-6 and the fourth 13-11.

Bowden said: “To become a world champion is amazing, you can’t quite put it into word just how much this means.

“From coming so close two years ago in the final, where I was beaten comfortably, to this year’s event, which I saw as unfinished business. I’m over the moon.

“I travelled along way to get the title I really wanted, so to get it, with my son watching, is amazing.”
