In The Flow

In The Flow In The Flow is for those that seek to find flow in movement and life. Being receptive to the rhythms Our true nature is unique, beautiful and free.

In The Flow is founded by Rachel Gosling, yoga teacher, lover of dance, movement and life. Rachel has always been a "mover" but found her full expression through yoga, as she recovered from physical and mental dis-ease. Yoga not only became a therapy to wellness, it also became a re-discovery of her true nature. When we are true to ourselves we fulfil our dharma or life's purpose. We are in alignment. We are in our flow. This is the key message in Rachel's teachings and the purpose of In The Flow. In The Flow is continually changing, evolving and, well..... going with the flow. Rachel has specialised training in Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Womb Yoga, Pregnancy Yoga, Post-natal Yoga, Yoga for Dancers, Yoga Nidra and the therapeutic teachings of the KYM in Chennai, India. She has benefited from the wisdom and knowledge of many wonderful teachers, for whom she is truly grateful. Rachel often draws on these teachings directly, but more often than not, she is drawn to expressing that which comes up in the moment and the influences of a lived practice of being In The Flow. As she, herself, is faced with the daily challenges of stress, overwhelm and sometimes even physical pain, she is drawn to share the deeply nurturing and nourishing practices that keep one connected within, rather than striving to attain.

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”

Friendly, welcoming yoga at Upperthong Village Hall — suitable for complete beginners as well as those with more experience.

My next 6-week Yoga for Strength, Mobility & Calm courses begin the week of 5th October.

Classes are designed to build functional strength, maintain mobility and help you feel more comfortable and confident in your body, alongside breathwork, focused attention and relaxation to leave you feeling calmer and thoroughly refreshed.

There are always options and variations, so you can work at your own pace. Many people join having never done yoga before, and you don’t need to be flexible or already “good at yoga” to come along.

Thursday at 1pm is an especially good class to join if you’re new to yoga, returning after a break, or working with aches and pains, as there’s more space for me to tailor the practice and offer individual guidance.

- Monday 10.45am
- Wednesday 9.30am
- Thursday 1pm

Holding these very special circles is an important part of my work, and of sharing this kind of yoga.

Yoga can offer deep nourishment, a coming home to ourselves, but so much of what happens in these spaces is also in the shared experience.

I find it quite hard to explain what a Monthly Evening Gathering actually is. After one such gathering, I was inspired to put some thoughts down about why these spaces can feel so magical, and what happens when we come together.

We aren't simply individuals having our own experiences alongside one another. We are part of the experience itself.

We create it together.

You can read Why We Gather in Rachel's Journal on my website at beintheflow.co.uk.

And if you'd like to experience one of the gatherings for yourself, the next three are:

🌿 11 September | Gathering Your Energy
An evening of grounding, movement and deep rest

🍂 16 October | Autumn Release
An evening to soften, release and lighten the load

✨ 13 November | Deeply Nourished
An evening to replenish, reconnect and receive

All are 6.30–8pm at Upperthong Village Hall.

Bookings are open at beintheflow.co.uk (or the link in my bio).

Effort doesn't have to mean tension.

When something feels challenging, it's easy for everything to tighten.

The jaw. The shoulders. The breath. Sometimes muscles that don't even need to be involved.

But what if we could find the effort that's needed, while allowing everything else to soften?

To be strong without becoming rigid.
To breathe fully while doing something difficult.

Ease isn't the absence of effort. The two can exist together. 💛

✨ I have spaces in my Thursday 1pm class at Upperthong Village Hall if you'd like to come and practise with me.

Sometimes we just need to allow the mind to catch up with the body.

To notice the breath.
To notice how we feel.
To be here, in this moment, right now.

How does your body feel today?

Do you ever stop long enough to notice?

Sometimes, that small pause can make an incredible amount of difference. 💛

Gathering Your Energy ✨

Where does your energy go?

Into the things you need to do, the people around you, conversations, worries, plans, thoughts that keep circling… sometimes it can feel as though bits of us are scattered everywhere.

September’s Monthly Evening Gathering is an invitation to gather some of that energy back in.

As summer begins to soften towards autumn, we’ll take time to slow down and reconnect through grounding movement, breath, sound, meditation and deep rest. Exploring what helps us steady our attention, feel more present in our bodies and leave feeling a little more recharged and resourced.

No pressure to achieve anything. No need to perform. Just 90 minutes to move, breathe, rest, connect and be.

It’s also my last class before I head away for a three-week break, and it feels like a lovely way to round off this part of the year together. 🤍

On Sunday night I went to see a live jazz band with friends.

Everyone was sitting at tables watching and listening. But I wanted to dance.

So I did. 💃

My friends joined me, and we had so much fun. The band appreciated our appreciation, and it was a mutual vibe. Other people around the room smiled, and afterwards several people told us how much they'd enjoyed watching us.

I could so easily have looked around and thought, Nobody else is dancing. This isn't what you do here.

And I'd have missed so much joy.

Which led me to thinking about confidence this week. Not confidence as being certain, getting things right or knowing exactly where we're going.

More the confidence to trust our own response.

To be enthusiastic about the things that excite us. To move when we want to move. To take up our space. To change direction when something isn't working. To make "mistakes" and know that it is okay anyway.

To be fully ourselves without needing everybody around us to understand, approve or do the same.

Because taking up our own space doesn't have to mean taking space away from somebody else.

I danced. Other people sat and watched. Both were okay.

And perhaps sometimes, when we allow ourselves to be fully ourselves, we give something to the people around us too.

There is something wonderfully freeing about not constantly checking the room to find out how much of ourselves we're allowed to bring into it.

Perhaps confidence isn't about knowing what's going to happen or how to do it right.

Perhaps it's trusting ourselves enough to meet what does, and allowing ourselves to enjoy the dance along the way. 💛

I looked up at the sky today and stopped for a moment.

Nothing particularly dramatic. Just one of those little moments when you actually notice what’s there, instead of rushing straight on to the next thing.

And it felt rather appropriate, because this Friday’s Space to Savour Gathering is really about just that.

Making a little space to notice. To move, breathe, rest and enjoy being where you are.

We’ll spend 90 minutes together with gentle yoga, breath, stillness and deep rest — a little pocket of time with nowhere else you need to be.

🌿 Friday 14 August
🌿 6.30–8pm
🌿 Upperthong Village Hall
🌿 £18.50
🌿 7 spaces remaining

If you fancy joining me, I’d love to have you there. 💛
