An unfortunate result against West of Scotland on Saturday, but plenty of effort and determination from the team in a very physical contest. Both sides put in some big defensive tackles, with Highland enjoying plenty of possession in the opening 20 minutes but unfortunately unable to turn it into points.

Injuries once again disrupted the momentum, but the team continued to dig deep and compete throughout.

A huge thank you to West of Scotland for making the journey up - it’s always a pleasure when the two teams meet and we wish you the best of luck with the rest of your season 🔥

To our own team - the commitment shown week in, week out at training has been immense and given the squad the opportunity to step onto the pitch and compete at national level, and that effort deserves real recognition.

Try scorer: Rheo Laurenson

Opposition and Forward of the Match: Lauren Elder for a phenomenal shift on the field 🔥

Back of the Match: Amy Brown - consistent every week and Saturday was no different!

Plenty to take from the performance, and the hard work continues on this weekend as we head for Ayr!

Another fantastic achievement from club this weekend, with our men’s 3XV taking the win on the road against Aberdeen Grammar 2XV, bouncing back from last week’s defeat to Garioch in emphatic fashion.

Despite being without several players and having to reshuffle the team (with a number of players stepping into unfamiliar positions) Highland showed incredible determination and adaptability under pressure.

They ran in an impressive 14 tries, putting the Aberdeen defence under constant pressure and securing a convincing 87–40.

A huge team effort, with every player putting in a shift from start to finish. A well-deserved result and a great way to get the season back on track! 🦅

Try scorers: Ryan Appleby x4, Callum Simpson x2, Connor Ross x2, Max Donnelly x1, Andrew Sutherland x1, Ryan Bicknell x1, Alex MacDonald x1, Mike Gregory x1, Andrew Stark x1

Man of the Match: Ryan Appleby in at number 8🏆

The dust has settled after a huge result for Highland this weekend, narrowly taking a 14–13 win over an impressive Newton Stewart side and securing their 8th consecutive win in this year’s National 2 campaign.

It was a tough first half, with both sides putting in some serious defensive work and very little given away. Newton Stewart went into the break with the lead at two penalties to one, making the half time score 3-6.

After some team talk magic in the changing room, Highland came back fighting but Newton Stewart didn’t make it easy. Another penalty to Highland equalised the score board, and the intensity ramped up even more with Adriu Muritoki eventually breaking the line to score the first try of the match. His try was quickly replied to and converted by Newton Stewart to keep the board balanced. In the last minutes, a final penalty kick from Scotty Fraser sealed the deal at 14-13.

Player of the Match went to Fred Riddle on the flank who had massive impact on the game in both attack and defence 🏆

With the Autumn internationals now upon us, the team are now heading into a well earned break 11 points clear on the league table!

They’ll be back at Canal Park on the 28th November against Falkirk 🦅

Highland extend their lead at the top of the National League 2 to eleven points after a hard-fought 14-13 victory over second-placed Newton Stewart! A cagey contest saw both defences on top for much of the match, but Highland held on to secure another crucial win!🏉

HIGHLAND 14-13 Newton Stewart

A fantastic game, and a great advert for rugby.

The game was in the balance right to the end, with both tries coming late in the game. Scott Fraser landing a penalty from infront of the posts to put the home team in the lead with less than 5mins to play.

Defences on top for most of the game. We had two teams knocking lumps out of each other in the best possible way. No quarter asked or given!

It wasn’t the best day for handling - but both teams still showed a willingness to run the ball when the opportunity arose.
