💙 Victorious in the cup 🤍
Banks edged out a tight affair, reigning supreme on penalties.
In the first half Banks started out slowly, struggling to find any kind of rhythm and finding it hard to match the tempo Fishers had set early doors. Fishers tested Banks resolve for long durations and finally found the opening goal of the game, as they let fly from range and found the back of the net. That wasn’t to shirk stand-in goalie S.Dolan who pulled off some great saves to keep the tie at 1-0 heading into halftime.
The second half Banks continued sluggishly, and Fishers doubled their lead around the hour mark, after a coming together with R.Laycock resulted in a penalty. After the game hit 2-0, Banks clicked into gear and started playing some great free flowing attacking football, the whole front 4 coming close at stages. Banks pegged one back in the 72nd minute as C.Morgan-Hanson playing a luscious ball forward, met by S.Winstanley who won the foot race before rounding the keeper and slotting home. Banks grabbed a their double in the dying embers as S.Winstanley turned provider, floating a delicate corner into the box which was met by N.Oladjko who rose highest and hammered a bullet header into the top corner to breath life into Banks. Banks held out the closing stages to take it to a shoot out.
Fishers won the toss and converted their first 3 with Banks seeing 1 saved. C.Morgan-Hanson stepped up for number 5 and drew Banks level with a well taken penalty. Banks won the tie with penalty number 8, J.Ehlert rifling home and winning tie for the lads.
MOTM: S.Dolan
Stand in goalie Dolo takes today’s MOTM with a quality performance between the sticks, sweeping well, and claiming every ball that came his way, a great effort from the lad, and kept us in the tie when it looked like it may run away from us. Well in Dolo 👏
Banks return home next week after a stint on the road, facing LIV Supplies Development.
