Had a free hour and decisions had to be made. Either finish the 1991 MUDDY FOX PATHFINDER, work on the 1988 KONA FIRE MOUNTAIN or strip the 1989 GIANT TRACK. As you can see the winner was........

She needs a new rear wheel but I've got that sorted, some fresh rubber (grips and tyres) and a full strip and rebuild but when's that ever stopped me 🤣

Latest find, 1988 MUDDY FOX ROADRUNNER (MIXTE) in outstanding original condition with only the addition of mudguards and a rack to sort out. Totally as it left the shop all those years ago and yes that is the protective plastic cover on the chainset logo still on!! Total garage find, used at the weekends for a few months then dry stored. All the important original parts are there including tyres so this should be a cracker very soon!

COYOTE ULTRALITE in progress! KORE, STX RC, AVIDS, TRUVATIV, RITCHEY ect in true parts bin style! Nice big frame and light to boot! Should be cabled up by the end of the week and fully adjusted. I've even put an original retro ELITE bottle cage on this one, now that's a first!

Grabbed an hour today baby/kid1/kid2 free so blitzed some wheels ready for upcoming bikes.

1991 PATHFINDER stripped, bars refurbished, non standard STX SE 1" headset rebuilt and frame/forks scrubbed but not yet top coated. The chainstay protector might possibly be saved but it's really crispy. She's a looker for sure but probably won't be factory spec which is a shame but there's parts that just didn't make it ..

1989/90? GEOFF WILES CUSTOM BUILD

There's two new arrivals desperately in need of restoration! Firstly an absolute classic 1991 MUDDY FOX in the gorgeous purple colour way with the decals mostly intact and yes the seat post does go down it's just a bit stubborn, and secondly an oddball GEOFF WILES ATB from possibly the late 80s or very early 90s which has the most glorious green/purple pearlescent paintwork which has to be seen in person to fully appreciate. The GEOFF has an eclectic mix of low end components but will be brought back to life and upgraded as that paintwork (and ubercool straight forks) deserves...

Here's one bike that definitely won't be ready for the retro MTB north east meetup but still progressing nicely.

COYOTE ULTRALITE now stripped and the frame cleaned. Most of the original components will be changed as it was a mixed bag of stuff anyway so I'll just build as and when I get time but for now she's back in storage totally naked ..

1988 KONA FIRE MOUNTAIN has started to take shape, some of the recently cleaned parts refitted. The bars have had a sympathetic touchup to bring them in line with the rest of the bike. Don't be fooled, those aren't the original wheels as they're in for resto in the next few days so she's sitting on spares for now. Nothing is perfect, nothing is new or NOS it's all as it should be and was in the beginning and shall be forever 😎 (except the grips, they're new 😂) ..

Cleaning well and truly underway on the 1988 KONA FIRE MOUNTAIN parts and bits and bobs. The seat clamp has faired the worst over time and hopefully I'll be able to source a replacement soon, and the nuts and bolts on the canti hangers are due for replacement but the rest? Considering the age it's all cleaned up nice! Especially that chainset - couldn't ask for better for the age...
