Torin Leaves Liverpool Basketball Club for BCB Yorkshire Dragons

A fantastic opportunity that we know Torin will jump into with full commitment just like he did during his time at Liverpool Basketball.

Torin's success is a testament to the senior programme & pathway on offer at Liverpool, having first joined the us starting out playing local league and working his way up to MABL, Division 4, Division 1 and now onto the BCB

Head coach Tony Walsh has this to say on Torin's journey "Another fantastic example of the pathway at Liverpool Basketball Club, where hard work, commitment and development create opportunities. We're incredibly proud to have played a huge part in his journey and to see another player progress through the leagues"

Liverpool Basketball Club Announces Changes to Senior Leadership:

We are delighted to welcome our very own Phil Cain back to Liverpool Basketball Club as he takes on the duties of General Manager.

Phil is no stranger to LBC or the basketball community across Merseyside. Over many years he has been involved with the club in a variety of capacities, supporting its development, community programmes and game-day operations. His longstanding commitment to Liverpool Basketball, together with his extensive knowledge of the game and the strong relationships he has built throughout the region, make him the ideal person to help lead the next phase of the club's journey.

Working alongside Club Chairman Tony Walsh, Phil will provide stability and continuity following the departure of Michael Wilson, helping to ensure the club continues to grow both on and off the court.

His wealth of experience, leadership and understanding of the Liverpool Basketball family will be invaluable as we continue to develop opportunities for our players, coaches, volunteers and supporters.

Everyone at Liverpool Basketball Club extends a warm welcome back to Phil and looks forward to working alongside him as we continue to build on the strong foundations already in place. We remain committed to providing the best possible environment for everyone connected with the club and are excited about what the future holds.

Liverpool Basketball Club would also like to place on record its sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to Michael Wilson, Bill Bigley, Steve Jones and Michelle Jones for their dedication, commitment and the countless hours they have devoted to the club over the years.

Club Statement:
Following the departure of Michael Wilson, Liverpool Basketball Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Des Williams as our new Men's First Team Head Coach.

Having served as Assistant Coach last season, Des already understands the club's culture, values and ambitions. His appointment provides continuity as we build on the progress made during the 2025/26 season.

Des brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as Head of International Coaching for FIMBA, leading Great Britain at the 2024 European Masters Championships and 2025 World Masters Championships.

He is also the founder and former Academy Director of the Leicester Riders Academy, where his teams achieved national success, and has enjoyed an outstanding coaching career at university level.

As a player, Des competed at NCAA Division I St. John's University in New York after representing Hemel Hempstead and Milton Keynes.

Men's Head Coach Des Williams:

"I'm grateful for the trust the club has shown in me. Having worked within Liverpool already, I understand the standards here and I'm looking forward to building on the foundations laid last season with a disciplined, team-first approach."

Director of Basketball Tony Walsh:

"This appointment is about continuity, not change for the sake of change. Des has impressed me throughout the past season with his knowledge, professionalism and commitment.

Im confident Des is the right person to lead our Men's programme into its next chapter."

Liverpool Basketball Club announces the departure of Men's First Team Head Coach, Michael Wilson.

After an outstanding first season leading the Men's team, Michael has accepted an exciting new opportunity, and while we are incredibly proud of him, he leaves with our heartfelt thanks and very best wishes for the future.

Michael has been part of the Liverpool Basketball Club family for the past 15 years. During that time, he has fulfilled many roles, including player, team manager, assistant coach, Men's Second Team Head Coach, and most recently Men's First Team Head Coach.

Throughout every stage of his journey, he has played a significant part in shaping the club into what it is today.

His influence extends far beyond results on the court. Michael has dedicated countless hours to developing players of all ages, supporting coaches, mentoring young people, and helping to build the strong, welcoming club culture we are so proud of. His passion, commitment, and genuine care for everyone involved in the club have left a lasting legacy that will not be forgotten.

While replacing a coach is possible, replacing someone like Michael is not. He leaves behind friendships, memories, and an example that will continue to inspire us all.

A personal note from our Head Coach Tony Walsh....

On a personal note, this is particularly difficult for me. I'll miss our daily conversations about basketball, our plans for the future, and the countless hours spent trying to make Liverpool Basketball Club the very best it could be.

I've always believed this club is one big family, and Michael embodies everything I have hoped our young people would become. Watching him grow from a young boy into the outstanding man, coach, and role model he is today has been one of the greatest privileges of my time at the club.

Michael, I couldn't be prouder of everything you've achieved. You don't need luck because your hard work, integrity, and passion will continue to open doors for you wherever you go. Thank you for everything you have given to Liverpool Basketball Club, you will be missed far more than words can express.

The Liverpool Basketball YouTube channel hosts over 700 basketball-related videos.
The majority are Liverpool Basketball Club's full-game videos, either livestreams or uploaded after editing.
The livestreams are "as is" - being uploaded to YouTube as the game progresses.
Those uploaded after editing are generally Senior games before livestreaming started or Junior games recorded and then edited to remove things like the half-time break & reduce other breaks in game-play (such as timeouts).
There are also a number of 'historical' videos which have been converted from the VHS originals and include edited games originally broadcast by Channel 4.
In addition the channel hosts videos from the Emily Brunnen Tournament and the North West BE Region Junior Finals.
