Liverpool Wolfe Tones GAA Liverpool Wolfe Tones are the only North West GAA club offering all 4 codes of Gaelic Games; men’s football, ladies football, hurling and camogie.

Now offering underage provision too! Liverpool as a city is steeped in Irish culture and history. Every corner you turn you meet an irish person or someone with Irish relations. Even the universities have many ties with the Irish community and also boast huge numbers of Irish people. All the universities within the city have Gaelic football teams and these teams have been at the top of the British university GAA scence for years. With more of these students staying in Liverpool after graduation and more Irish people arriving in the city due to emigration from Ireland the club has been set up to provide more Gaelic Football here in the city. From the clubs birth in March 2010 the club has continued to grow from strength to strength and it was decided to start regular competitive football in 2011. The club is affiliated with the Lancashire GAA county board, the province of Britain and Croke Park back in Ireland. The club began its first year of competitive football in March 2011 in the Lancashire Junior Championship, the Lancashire junior league, thw wolfe tone league and the Pennine League Division 2. In the first year the club reached 3 finals and a semi final. In 2012 the lads team have been promoted up to Senior football level in Lancashire. In August 2011 the club decided it was again time to expand and therefore the Liverpool Wolfe Tones ladies team was started. The girls started off with great success with over 40 girls out over the first few weeks. The ladies team start it's competitive football in a North-West club/university compeitition with the local universities and clubs competiting. The ladies will also join the Lancashire county GAA competitions and British ladies GAA competitions is 2012. Everyone is welcome at Liverpool Wolfe Tones GAA. Well done to our footballers who qualified for the Junior Championship final following a win over St Lawrence’s at Hough End today.

The lads started the game well, with some lovely attacking play bringing a number of goal chances, one of which was finished off by Jack Lynch. A couple of 2 pointers from Dylan Feeney and Thomas Reilly, and further scores from Arron Brennan, Brett Clydesdale and Patsy Finnegan opened up a gap between the sides.
The defence, anchored by the returning Mark Canavan, put in a great performance keeping Lawrence’s to a single score in the first half, with Chris Boyle and George Jones getting forward to assist the attack.

The second half was a lot more even, with our opposition starting to come out on top in the midfield area, the introduction of Conall McCaffrey and Eoin McWilliams, helped to swing that back in favour of the Tones. The lads saw the game out and now have a final at the new Lancashire Centre of Excellence to look forward to on 18th October.

Good luck to our men’s footballers who take on St Lawrence’s in the final round of games of the group stage of the championship. The lads are guaranteed at least a semi final spot already, however a win would see them top the table and qualify directly for the final.

💛🏑YOUTH GAA IS BACK! 🏐💚

We’re delighted to announce the return of our Youth GAA programme! 🎉

Due to renovations taking place at the Liverpool Irish Centre, our next block will be slightly shorter than usual, 4 weeks instead of 6 and will be held outdoors on our pitch in Wavertree.

It’s a great opportunity for the little ones to get active, have fun, learn some Gaelic games and meet new friends! 💚🤍💛

Well done to our men’s footballers who ground out a win today against St Peter’s in Round 2 of the championship in Turn Moss.

The Tones started well with an electric full forward line in full flow, Thomas Reilly, Dylan Feeney and Arron Brennan linking well on a number of occasions. Goals from Feeney and Brett Clydesdale highlighted the positives from the lads, but some sloppy play allowed the Manchester lads to stay well in touch in the game, but the Tones held a 4 point advantage at the break.

That advantage though was quickly overturned, a lightning fast start to the second half from Peter’s saw them take the lead, a lead that continued to change hands throughout a frantic second period.

Eoin Cleary and Eoin McWilliams put in a great shift in the middle of the park for the men in green, and George Jones put in a man of the match performance from corner back, constantly driving forward and helping link play in attack.

The game was well in the melting pot when talisman Tony O’Callaghan was shown a black card with 5 minutes remaining, and Peters a point to the good. Clutch scores from Ethan O’Kane and Reilly put the lads into the lead, a 45 from Peter’s brought the game level into injury time, before a lung busting run from Cleary set up Reilly for the game winning kick right at the death.

A proper championship game. Well done lads.
Next up is St Lawrence’s at Hough End on 27th September in the final round of the group stage.

It wasn’t to be for our ladies today as they fell to a strong Oisín’s side in the Junior Championship Final. 💚💛

Some action shots from the ladies today as they gave it absolutely everything on the pitch, just like we knew they would! They can hold their heads high after another brilliant season. 👏🏼

A huge thank you also goes to the men behind the scenes who have given so much of their time, commitment and support to the ladies throughout the season, all while committing time to their own football season. It’s hugely appreciated by everyone at the club. 💚

💚💛 BEST OF LUCK TO OUR LADIES! 💛💚

Tomorrow morning, our ladies footballers travel to Manchester to take on Oisins in the Junior Championship Final! 🏆

The girls have shown incredible strength, determination and commitment throughout the season, and the whole club is behind them as we cheer them on tomorrow! 👏🏼

Last year, the ladies brought home the Junior Championship trophy and went on to represent the club in the All-Britain. They’ll be hoping to do it all again this year! 🏆

A huge amount of work has gone in behind the scenes, with Mick, Thomas and Tony putting in so much time and effort with the girls throughout the year. We have no doubt that the ladies will give absolutely everything on the pitch tomorrow and do the lads proud! 💪🏼
