๐Ÿšจ Chief Executive of the Premier League, Richard Masters:

"The core decision establishes the facts of what happened at Manchester City during this period. It details how the club systematically broke Premier League Rules for nearly a decade." โš–๏ธ

"It also vindicates the Premier League's decision to pursue this case against Manchester City. While the process to date has been both long and difficult, the League has remained determined that the facts be established independently." ๐ŸŽฏ

"It is a key responsibility of the Premier League to ensure that the Rules, approved by the clubs themselves, are upheld to protect the integrity of the competition. It is paramount that the League remains competitive and fair for all clubs and for the fans. We take that role extremely seriously." ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

"This disciplinary case, and this decision, are the ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐ง๐ข๐Ÿ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ง๐ญ in Premier League history. There are elements of the case that remain to be decided, including, importantly, what sanction must follow for these breaches. Now we have the Commission's decision, we are committed to moving swiftly through the remainder of the process, to provide certainty for the League, our clubs and fans." โณ

โ€œThe Club is innocent of the accusations made by the Premier League and a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence exists in support of all of its positions, relating to this caseโ€.

โ€œThe Club will therefore be relentless โ€” and where necessary proactive, in any and all appropriate regulatory legal forumsโ€.

โ€œThe Premier League process remains ongoing, with significant elements uncompletedโ€.

โ€œManchester City FC will now pursue the appeal avenues open to it, on the basis that the opinion contains clear material errors, of law, principle and fact, and is unsafeโ€.

โ€œThe Club has diligently respected due process for eight years on the basis that the Premier League Board & Executive would behave as an independent, impartial and fair-minded regulator, free from partisan influenceโ€.

โ€œThe Club is obviously restricted in what it can say further until all future proceedings are completeโ€.

Premier League confirm that an independent Commission has found Manchester City ๐†๐”๐ˆ๐‹๐“๐˜ ๐Ž๐… ๐€๐‹๐‹ ๐‚๐‡๐€๐‘๐†๐„๐’ related to serious breaches of the Premier Leagueโ€™s financial rules over a nine-season period โ€” and the majority of charges in relation to its failure to co-operate with the Premier League investigation.

The club has the right to appeal the independent Commissionโ€™s findings and has until Friday 2 October to exercise that right.

The Premier League Boardโ€™s intention is that the full process (including any appeals and publication of relevant decisions) is concluded as soon as possible.

The independent Commission found that between Seasons 2009/10 and 2017/18 Manchester City did the following โคต๏ธ

- City arranged โ€˜shamโ€™ contracts (which misrepresented the true agreement between the parties) with a number of its commercial partners, as well as relying on โ€˜shamโ€™ agreements with others, to artificially inflate the clubโ€™s revenues and reduce its costs.

- The club filed misstated accounts and concealed the true state of its finances from its auditors and football regulators.

- Manchester City was significantly in breach of both the Premier Leagueโ€™s and UEFAโ€™s spending limits.

- During the Premier Leagueโ€™s investigation, Manchester City committed multiple breaches of its duties of co-operation and utmost good faith towards the League (three of the four alleged breaches were upheld).

Liverpool can confirm Julian Ward has been appointed the clubโ€™s new sporting director. Internal hire always expected with Liverpool aware Richard Hughes was leaving for Al-Hilal since early 2026.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Ward: โ€œI am incredibly excited to take on this role and it goes without saying that I am hugely grateful for the trust that has been placed in me by ownership.

โ€œHaving been part of Liverpoolโ€™s football operation for more than a decade, I have a full appreciation and first-hand knowledge of the challenge that comes with the position, as well as a clear understanding of the demands and ambitions of this great club.

โ€œThis is an exciting period for Liverpool โ€“ on and off the pitch โ€“ in which change and opportunity go hand in hand, but at the same time the culture, values and principles that have underpinned the club for so long remain as strong as ever.

โ€œAs a football club, we will continue to create an environment that maximises performance while promoting the continued development of our players and our people.

โ€œIn Andoni, together with the wider team of staff across the AXA Training Centre, the Academy and AXA Melwood, we have the expertise, talent and conditions required to keep driving the club forward.

โ€œBuilding on these strong foundations and the work overseen by our football operations in recent seasons is both a huge responsibility and a privilege.โ€

๐Ÿšจ BREAKING: The independent panel ruling on Manchester Cityโ€™s 115 charges have found the club guilty on most of the charges.

Premier League clubs were updated on the case, but Manchester City are expected to appeal.

EPL are confident on a satisfactory conclusion but there is no guarantee the case is fully resolved imminently.

Sanctions range from suspended punishments or fines to points deductions and expulsion from the league. And punishments can be applied while an appeal is ongoing.

A City spokesman: โ€œThe Premier League process remains ongoing, with significant elements to be completed, and subject to strict confidentiality. As such Manchester City FCโ€™s position remains consistent with the clubโ€™s statement of February 2023.

โ€œThe club has diligently respected due process for eight years on the basis that the Premier League board and executive would behave as an independent, impartial and fair-minded regulator, free from partisan influence.โ€
