It’s properly grey out there today. Rain, dark skies, one of those Sundays where leaving the house feels like a big ask.

But honestly, days like this are the best ones to come in. It’s warm, it’s quiet, and it’s a nice way to either set yourself up for the week or shake off the one that’s just gone. Whether that’s your Sunday ritual, a bit of calm before work, something to unwind after, or just your usual time to switch off for a bit.

You’ve got 30 minutes spare. Might as well spend them somewhere cosy.

It’s World Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, and what’s more important to talk about before we all head to the bars and pubs for the chaos of a summer of sport?

🩷 Same plunge. Same temperature. Two completely different weeks of the month. ❄️

Shannon and Emma, our Branch Manager, our Events Lead, and the actual engine behind HerSpace... jumped in the 12° together. One mid-luteal. The other nowhere near it.

The science bit: in the luteal phase, women vasoconstrict faster, shiver at higher temperatures, and feel cold more intensely. So the same plunge can land completely differently depending on where you are in your cycle. 🧬

That’s exactly why we built the 12°. Cold enough to do the work, mood, clarity, recovery, without your nervous system filing a formal complaint, whatever week you walk in on.

We’re not trying to be your second job. We’re the bit that fits around your life, not the thing you have to rearrange it for.

Everyone’s got hobbies. Work. Friends. A life. We’d be kidding ourselves if we thought you could give us 60, 90, 120 minutes, four or five times a week. And honestly? We don’t want you to. Because that’s not a habit. That’s a chore.

Recovery only works if it’s repeatable.

So we built it to slot in. 30 minutes to switch off, reset, and get back to your best. Then back out into the day.

Not a retreat. Not a project. Just the add on that actually sticks.

🩷❄️ Let’s be honest, most cold plunge research has been done on men.

The protocols, the temperatures, the sub 5° energy all over your feed, largely shaped around male physiology, then handed to women like the biology would figure itself out.

Spoiler: it doesn’t….

One size has never fit all. Women’s bodies move with the cycle. Hormones shift, and so does everything else: body temperature, cold sensitivity, circulation, stress tolerance. Core temp sits higher in the luteal phase. The plunge that felt sharp and clarifying last week can feel like genuine warfare this week.

Not in your head. Actual science.

The research catching up now points to 10 - 15°C as the sweet spot for women. Cold enough for the dopamine, the focus, the recovery, the inflammation drop. Not so cold your nervous system files a formal complaint. Hormetic stress, not survival stress.

So we built one.

We have the space for twice as many. We choose not to.

Six people, max. Even though our capacity says otherwise.

We see places cram more in to push revenue. That’s not a bit of us. Because here’s the thing, packing the room out is great for one spreadsheet and terrible for everything else.

Queues for the plunge. Waiting for a spot in the sauna. That lowkey stress of sharing a space that’s meant to switch your brain off.

That’s not recovery. That’s a commute.

So we cap it. For 30 minutes, this is your space. No jostling, no waiting your turn, no limits on the actual thing you came for.

Your wellness home. Not a waiting room.

Introducing Common State Sessions with

A new series of intimate mornings designed to help you slow down, reconnect, and spend time in good company. Each session brings together movement, reflection, and shared experience.

Starting with a grounding yoga flow, followed by meditation, journalling, and space to connect, before heading upstairs for sauna and cold plunge.

It’s a chance to take a pause, do something good for your body, and be around people enjoying each others company.
