With WEKAF Australia – I just made it onto their weekly engagement list by being one of their top engagers 🎉

So I have been posting about my success in WEKAF India 2026.. Let me start by saying that as a young boy growing up in London, I remember two elders (Eric and Earl) taking me to Wu Shu Kwuan classes, until car sickness spoilt it and I was not allowed to go. I then saw my brother Barry Littlejohn and his friend Barry Hunte training Wu Shu Kwuan, in our Fulham basement.

When I was at boarding school (Woolvo) at age 12y I was introduced to FOIL (fencing); by the late H. R. John 'Plonk' Ramsay physics teacher, Corners Housemaster, and Fencing Coach. I learnt to fence, became Master of Arms, took my bronze award and went to the nationals. I took part in an exchange trip to France and was part of the team that hosted the French exchange students that came to Woolvo. Although I did not appreciate his teachings at the time. I do recognise how fortunate I have been.

After leaving school in 1984 I began training in Monkey Kung Fu under my belated cousin Michael Littlejohn until his untimely passing (I was his only student).

Around 1984-85 Sifu Barry Hunte started his first class and I was one of his earliest students. Due to my immaturity and impatience I was asked to leave the class (and rightly so). When my Eldest daughter was old enough to train I was lucky to re-join Sifu Barry Hunte, alongside her in the new Zhaun Shu Kwan. I obtained my black belt in Zhaun Shu Kwan in 2000, also with the continued encouragement and guidance of my brother Barry. Justn prior to taking my BB, I had also started training in Thai Boxing at All-Stars with Michael "Mick" Thompson and British Middleweight Llyod of Lloyd Heavens Boxing Academy. With the additional boxing training for better punching, with Mr. Del from All-Stars, a great pad man (boxing is in his blood).

Due to ongoing back issues I stopped training for 2 years, until I met Erma Alexander of Doce Pares and I began training in Arnis. I never intended to do more than 1 competition, but I found Arins exciting, frenetic and exhausting. Team GB coaches GM John Harvey and GM Jude Tucker taught me how to put power in my strikes... Norman Charles (the analyst) for your insights and tweaks that made a huge improvement.

Let's not forget everyone that has sparred with me, cornered me and generally encouraged me... My success is built on the input, encouragement and support by so many other people

Marial Arts is a multi-faceted discipline, and as my Sifu says, you get out what you put in... Train hard, Fight safe
