MEXICO CITY -- FIFA president Gianni Infantino said that sometimes it is better to "chill and relax" over visa issues when the Somali referee fiasco is brought up at a news conference.

WTF? Just get this man out of FIFA. as soon as possible. ๐Ÿคจ

Facebook continues to send me notifications that it won't recommend our GoonersGuide page to readers - due to our talking about sports betting in a responsible way discussing concepts like +EV, restricting betting bankrolls to and how 95% of punters lose money.

Meanwhile every second advert I see is about the the local TAB sports betting advertising World Cup betting with the worst sort of social engineering and AI visuals - it's so easy just click click click.

I suspect that the only reason they don't like us is not to do with "standards" or "guidelines" but just that we won't pay thousands of $$$ for their advertising fees.

I'd like to congratulate Auckland FC on winning the Australian A-League for the first time last night .. but .. something is nagging me.

The club is three years old. It's the plaything of Billionaire Bill Foley who also owns AFC Bournemouth, and he has a minority ownership of FC Lorient in France.

His money has effectively brought in players and coaching staff from outside New Zealand to go from zero to hero inside three years (two actual playing seasons).

Auckland FC have a bigger purse than the Melbourne and Sydney clubs right now. And accordingly they won the league. Quickly.

Is that good? Australians will be asking that question today.

It is offering the Auckland public a chance to support a winning football team, and they do need to keep winning because we all know what happened to that fan base when the now defunct Auckland Kingz started to slide.

It is also offering a significant number of younger New Zealand players the change to play "professionally" in the A-League - I use the air quotes because the kiwi salaries for locals are small.

Auckland FC are also running an OFC Pro League side with seven more imports in the squad and according have reached the final against South Melbourne.

I guess the real test of Auckland FC will be if it manages to grow beyond a franchise with mercenary players brought in to win the A-League and actually nurtures new Kiwis into football.

That's the real test of a football "club" and not just a franchise.

And that is something that I'm not sure Bill Foley and his coterie of professional sports franchise advisors have ever done - and it's a huge task.

So I guess that YES - I can say CONGRATULATIONS AUCKLAND FC you were definitely deserved winners of the A-League ...

.. but I expect more work on the ground, in the community, to actually build up a footballing stronghold. U8's U10's U12's boys, girls, an actual CLUB.

Winning the A-League was the easy part with such deep pockets - the work has really just begun.

What went on in people's minds when going on about Arsenal not winning the title as if it was something special ?

Look at this graphic - years since they won the title - Arsenal are now proudly at zero (previously 22) - but look at everyone outside the top five !!

Leeds, Everton, Villa and Forest - European Cup winners in there.

And Tottenham ?!!?! I have mates who are Spurs supporters who are NEVER going to see their side win the league ... unless the Championship counts !! ๐Ÿ˜

I think that the "banter" is bullsh!t, and usually brought up by the plastic fans when they can't face the facts that someone ios doing well this season.

Congratulations to Aston Villa on lifting the Europa League trophy on Wednesday night.

A brilliant achievement and fully deserved after an outstanding European campaign. Villa played with confidence, organisation and belief throughout the tournament and their supporters have been rewarded with a famous night in the clubโ€™s history.

Enjoy the celebrations, Villa fans โ€” nights like these donโ€™t come around often. ๐Ÿ†
