Racing
Brixton BMX Club is running the second in its series of club race on Sunday November 10th. This is an ideal opportunity for novice or intermediate riders to get their first ever taste of racing, for those who missed the first in our series. It will also be good practice for our expert riders. Please encourage everyone to take part. Entries close on the Thursday before the Sunday in the evening. However, running a BMX race does take so work and the assistance of parents would be much appreciated. Speak to one of the committee members if you feel able to assist.
As November 10th is Remembrance Sunday, we will be holding a one minute silence at 11am. Please bear this in mind.
In addition, for those intermediate and expert riders wanting to keep their focus, there will be racing incoming weeks and months for those wishing to develop their skills further. Most accessible of these will be the Deep South events, with races at Knightwood, Andover, Bath, Bournemouth, Runnymede (within the M25) and Gosport.
The Knightwood event kicks off the series on October 27th and is an ideal track for beginners as it is fairly short and does not have any large or challenging jumps. The track is also well served with facilities as it is located next to a sports centre and is only a comparatively short drive down the M3 from London.
Maintenance
Thanks to everybody who supported the bike cleaning at the end of each of this week’s sessions. We plan to make it the norm from now on - hopefully with running water from next week.
Volunteering shoutouts to Jo and Camilla for helmet and bike organisation and labelling; Inters Evan and Raffael for the gazebo assistance; and Riley, Marcus and Dan for starting on our bike maintenance backlog. As USA BMX would say: We appreciate you all (a lot).
Race tops
The jersey order is going ahead next Sunday so please be quick and place your order on Spond if you would like one. The order placement can be found under ‘payments’ on Spond.
Tea stall
Big thanks are due to Kasia and Stacey for their work with our new tea and merch stall. This has been a big success already The club managed to sell a lot of merch and will be restocking. Meanwhile, the teas and coffees have been much appreciated. Donations to the club are appreciated, rather than payments however!
