The UCL Gliding Club is a means of providing members of UCL with cheap and easy access to the incredible sport of gliding.
The club is lucky enough to own three gliders, a K21, an ASW19 and a K6cr, and is subsidised by the UCL Union so we can provide flying at affordable rates. We fly at weekends at RAF Halton all year around (weather-permitting) and also boast a friendly and active social scene. We hold expeditions to other gliding sites during the summer months as well. UCL Gliding is finally back in action! After a long winter grounded by rain, wind, and the low clouds, we’re thrilled to return to the skies. While the weather hasn’t exactly been on our side so far this year, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for blue skies and thermals as the season picks up. With the soaring season just beginning, we’re looking forward to getting as many launches as we can, and making the most of every flying day ahead.

Saturday started early but a 3-hour rain delay couldn’t stop us! 🌧️ Once the wind shifted, we got 27 launches and 7hr 48min of flying! Klemens smashed it with 2hr 41min in the K18🏅. Sunday: 50 flights, 6.5hrs, and everyone flew! ✈️. Great to meet UCL new members on freshers day too! 🙌 Credit: Klemens and Gu
