🦢✨ FROM CYGNETS TO SWANS — MISS ALEX ✨🦢

And so we come to the final Cygnet to Swan in our series… and this one is a very special one indeed! 💜

Because our final Cygnet is now Miss Alex — an integral part of the Insight Dance & Arts team! 🌟

Alex started dancing with Miss Karen when she was just 5 years old, beginning with Saturday morning Ballet and Tap. It wasn’t long before she wanted to do more, more, more! 🩰

She became a member of our Performance Group and performed at some incredible venues and events, including:

🎭 Her Majesty’s Theatre, London — TWICE!
🎢 Alton Towers “Chance to Dance”
✨ Numerous local events
🎪 And, of course, many of our own DDS shows

Alex continued her education, gaining her GCSEs and A-levels, before beginning to teach at DDS — which has now evolved into Insight Dance & Arts.

Today, Alex is an integral part of our team and plays such an important role in our Saturday morning classes. 💜

But Alex didn’t stop there…

Alongside teaching, she completed both her Level 3 AND Level 4 IDTA Dance Teacher Diplomas — all while simultaneously completing a four-year Primary Education degree at Nottingham Trent University…

…and becoming a Mummy too! 👶❤️

And this year, Alex officially qualified with a:

🎓✨ BA (Hons) in Primary Education! ✨🎓

Honestly… what a Superwoman! 🦸‍♀️💜

From a five-year-old little girl walking into Miss Karen’s Saturday morning Ballet and Tap class, to a qualified teacher, professional dance teacher, university graduate and mum — what an incredible journey it has been.

Miss Steph and Miss Karen couldn’t be prouder of you, Alex. ❤️

You have grown from one of our little Cygnets into such an amazing young woman, and we feel incredibly lucky to have you as part of our team.

🦢✨ FROM CYGNETS TO SWANS — TILLY ✨🦢

Day 6 of our DDS Alumni celebrations and today we’re celebrating the wonderful Tilly! ❤️

Tilly started dancing in Miss Karen’s Cygnets classes at just 4 years old.

During her time at DDS, she took IDTA examinations in Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz and Musical Theatre. It was during this time that Miss Karen recognised a beautiful singing voice in this little dancer and encouraged Tilly to work with a professional singing coach. 🎶

And just look what happened next…

Tilly went on to gain a BA in Performing Arts and has spent the last six years working professionally as a singer-songwriter — releasing her own music, performing on cruise ships and singing with a variety of jazz bands. 🎤🎶
Tilly has been a guest teacher with us & taught our musical theatre students as well as our adults (tap, ballet & west end)

But Tilly wasn’t finished learning yet!

She returned to education at the prestigious Mountview Academy in London, studying for an MA in Musical Theatre Performance.

And this summer, Miss Karen had the absolute privilege of watching Tilly perform in Godspell — and was SO incredibly proud. ❤️

Today we are absolutely delighted to celebrate Tilly’s latest achievement:

🎓✨ MA WITH HONOURS! ✨🎓

From a four-year-old Cygnet in Miss Karen’s class to a professional performer and now a postgraduate with a Master’s degree — what an incredible journey!

Congratulations, Tilly! We can’t wait to see what the next chapter has in store for you. 🌟

🦢✨ FROM CYGNETS TO SWANS — LYDIA ✨🦢

Today we’re celebrating another very special member of the DDS family — Lydia! 💜

Lydia started her dancing journey in our Mini Movers class as a toddler, arriving each week with Mum or Dad. She was such a happy little girl who absolutely loved to dance! 🩰❤️

As she grew, Lydia progressed through her IDTA grades in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Acro, achieving Distinctions along the way. 🌟

She was also an integral part of the dance school, taking part in shows, displays and performances — including dancing on the stage of “Her Majesty’s” Theatre in London at a very young age! 🎭✨

As Lydia grew older, her interests changed and she decided to focus more on her school work and academics. And what an achievement that has been!

🎓 Three excellent A-levels! 🎓👏

Lydia is now looking forward to the next exciting chapter of her life, and although her path has taken her in a different direction, she will always be a part of the DDS family. 💜

Miss Karen is incredibly proud of everything Lydia has achieved and we look forward to following her progress and seeing where life takes her next.

🦢✨ FROM CYGNETS TO SWANS — L O T T Y ✨🦢

Day 3 of our DDS Alumni celebrations and today it’s Lotty’s turn! ❤️

Lotty started her dancing journey at Dance Doctors Studios in our Parent & Toddler class, attending with her mum and dad.

From those very first little steps, she continued through her IDTA grades, achieving them with Honours and Distinctions along the way. 🌟

And now she has achieved three excellent A-levels! 🎓👏

Her dancing journey is continuing too, as she heads to MADD — Nottingham’s very own professional dance college — at their exciting new premises in Richmond House on Canal Street, Nottingham. 💃🕺

It is wonderful to see students who started with us as little ones continuing to pursue their passion and take the next steps towards a career in the performing arts.

Miss Karen is incredibly proud of everything Lotty has achieved so far and can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings.

🦢✨ FROM CYGNETS TO SWANS — LILY ✨🦢

Day 2 of our DDS Alumni series and today we’re celebrating the amazing Lily! ❤️

Lily actually started her DDS journey long before she was born — she came dancing in her mummy’s tummy! 😂💜

She then joined our Parent & Toddler classes with her mum, Angela, and continued her journey right through all of the IDTA grades, achieving every single grade with Honours and Distinctions. 🌟

And now… look how far she has flown!

🎓 D*D*D* in her Level 3 BTEC Performing Arts Extended Diploma!

That is the highest grade possible — and Lily absolutely smashed it! 👏🔥

Her next adventure is already underway as she heads to Leeds Conservatoire to study for a BA in Performing Arts, with a particular focus on singing. 🎤🎭

Miss Karen has watched Lily grow from a tiny toddler taking her first dance steps into the talented young performer she is today — and what a journey it has been!

Join me in giving Lily a HUGE congratulations on this incredible achievement and wishing her every success for the next exciting chapter of her career. ❤️

🌟 FROM CYGNETS TO SWANS — CELEBRATING OUR ALUMNI 🦢✨

Over the next few days, I’m going to share the stories of some very special students who all began their dancing journeys starting at Dance Doctors Studios with Miss Karen AND ending with Insight Dance & Arts with Miss Steph. ❤️

From tiny Cygnets taking their very first steps into the studio, through IDTA grades, performances, shows and vocational training, to achieving incredible results in GCSEs, BTECs, A-levels, T-levels, Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees — it has been an absolute privilege to have been the start of their journey and to watch them grow, both as dancers and as young people.

Their journeys remind us that dance teaches us so much more than steps. It builds confidence, resilience, discipline, creativity, teamwork and determination — qualities that stay with you long after you leave the studio.

🦢 From Cygnets to Swans…
