The Final Race report
of the Sustain Fuels 750MC - Formula Vee Championship at Mallory Park Circuit

I had never been to Mallory and lucky to fit Thursday testing to sort some issues out unfortunately it went very badly with barely 10 laps done and with engine issues the car wasn't sounding healthy ahead of QF

Big thanks to Phill at Bears Motorsport for getting the engine working as only really needed to finish was to seal the class B championship

We took this decision to back off the timing and only do a handful of qualifying laps just to get on the grid I went out for qualifying only P18 but just needed to get the car home

Race 1 - I tried to sit where I was to see how the race unfolded trying to make sure I got the car home unfortunately accident front meant a safety car and the race ended early I had done the job I set out to do 😁

Race 2: Starting P15 and the pressure now off and a more fun race I did try and push I started fairly cautious for the first couple of laps with engine starting to sound ever worse I did move up to 9 chasing down matt topham unfortunately the last couple of laps the power was going and Mr topham slipped by to claim 9th unknown to me that the race had been cut short and that it was the last lap when matt slipped by the checkered Flag came out but more had slipped by after the line so I held on to P10

Not the way I wanted my season to end I I really wanted to go for it in the last 2 race weekend.

Thank you again to Phill at Bears Motorsport for all season I wouldn’t have got the B class championship without keeping my engine going 😜

All in all a great year with lots of ups and downs with a great bunch of people it's time for a change of car so if anyone interested in getting in to vee my car will be up for sale soon after engines been sorted. I will put an ad together when the cars ready but will £7500 with spares or £8500 with vbox cameras and lap timer and an extra JWM light weight battery drop me a PM if anyone interested thanks

Race report for The Sustain Fuels 750MC - Formula Vee Championship at Silverstone was a

“safety car save for me 🙏🙏”

Qualifying went ok got in a bit of a battle instead of making space we may have been slowing each other down only P13th on the grid so I was very disappointed to be honest.
But it my fastest time around the circuit my aim was to get in the 1.17 which I did (just) but so did quite a few others drivers aswell 😂😂 with some in the 1.15 & 16 on the plus side there was defo more time to be had and over 2 seconds a lap faster than my last visit to the international layout so not all bad.

Race 1 was short and a none event really we had 1 racing lap due to a red flag restart then safety car to the finish.
I finished P10 due to incidents in front. Luckily I had not tightened one of my front steering arms properly so I could see it moving on the bolt behind the safety car 🤦‍♂️ not sure what would have happened if there had been a restart so was saved really.

Race 2 I had an ok start off the line had some great battles in the first couple of laps and with some great drivers but unfortunately the car started loosing power and popping I started falling back finished P14 thanks to a safety car I would of definitely sliped back a few more places or possibly a DNF if it had not come out 😳 on a positive note I cracked in to a 1.16 on the second lap possible could found more time which more than I hope for and shows there is more time in the car to be had.

Link for race 2 below as Race 1 not worth it really.

Next up brands hatch unfortunately due to lack of time and budget no testing so wont be able to check if the miss/power loss is sorted until qualifying 😳.

Very Late!!! Race report from Rounds 7 & 8 of the Sustain Fuels 750MC - Formula Vee Championship at Anglesey Circuit.

My second visit to angles & with the front beam done up and reset it was straight in to Qualifying: P10 not awful but I was very disappointed with the car being massively lighter and a better built engine since the last visit I was over half a second of my best lap. Tho the front end was washing away into corners meaning I could not get on the power early it still felt like it was flowing ok.

After some head scratching and thanks to Phil at Bears motorsport he noticed a I had not set the front beam quite right which may have caused my issues

Race 1: started P10 and finished P10 I had some good battling with Ben Cressey and will malins I managed to to keep Will behind for the B class win 😰 (just) it felt faster tho the car didn't really feel much better and struggling to get the front in and the power early in certain corners I was shocked to find out I had gone a bit slower than QF times tho track conditions may of changed.

Some more head scratching and my dad had noticed the rear end was hard with little movement on the damper I had not touched the rear damper but again Phil at Bears had a look he managed to slacken it off for me and make the rear a fair bit softer tho he thought the damper might be failing 😳

Race 2: Starting P10 again we had a rain shower whilst in the assembly area, tho quickly realising the circuit had stayed fairly dry.
Boom! Within the first lap, I quickly realised I had the car underneath me that I had at Croft it was turning into corners better I could get on the power earlier and brake later! I had a good battle with Colin Gregory in the first couple of laps and then Richard Walsh for a couple more once I got some clear space in the last few laps I smashed my best lap by over a second and the car felt consistent I managed to run a few laps within a tenth of my new best lap!! I finished P6 overall in the end feeling much better about the car.

All in all a positive end to the weekend.
Silverstone soon and dampers are off for service/repair and I've been on a get-fit mission as I was knackered after race one 😂

Race report for Rounds 5 & 6 of the Sustain Fuels 750MC - Formula Vee Championship at Snetterton!

A bittersweet weekend from a B class point of view 2 class Wins with an extra point for the fastest lap in race one and 7th overall in both races a few car troubles again in the race left me trying to hang on luckily not A DNF

Qualify: P5 for race one damp wet tricky conditions but confidents coming back in the car after the problems at Castle Combe was pretty happy overall

Race 1: Not a bad start took it a bit too easy at times, mistakes and inconsistent lap times see slip back to 7th in the end but a B class win. Starting P7 for the race 2 with plenty to build on.

Race 2: unfortunately (didn't know at the time) by the end of lap 1 at some point the front beam adjuster had come loose and slipped around making the front drop and the dampers supersoft the car felt unstable and a bit unpredictable in the fast corners and bouncy in the slow corners it felt like I was hacksawing at the steering wheel I slipped back after the first lap from pack and then seeing Ben Cressey getting bigger & bigger 😳 in the mirrors over a couple of laps to go passed luckily tried to keep smooth to nurse it home for finished 7th before the rest of the packed court up with me managed to get the class B win which was good.

Tho I'm starting wonder if the front adjusters had start to slip in race 1 🤔 fronts all reset now and ready for Anglesey on the 5th & 6th of July 😁

Race report for Rounds 3 & 4 of the Sustain Fuels 750MC - Formula Vee Championship at Castle Combe. With the new circuit to learn, new discs to bed in and a new steering column after Croft I was ready for Qualifying.

Qualifying: I qualified P10 which was my main aim anything higher would have been a bonus so not a bad start my front tracking needed setting as my wheel was slightly out pointing right nothing too bad I was learning the circuit.

Race 1: Unfortunately it went downhill from here lining up on the grid my steering wheel had moved quite far to the left and it wasn't handling great 😳 my confidence in the car was dropping rapidly wanted to see the cheque flag after a couple of laps 😂😂 managed to get the car home and not have a DNF I finished 11th and second in class.
Turns out my front axle beam adjuster had dropped aswell. (thanks to Bradley Tarlton for spotting something wasn't right) and my steering column was moving in the spline is why the wheel was off 😳

Race 2: problems all sorted but unfortunately I can't blame the car, tricky condition with rain, poor visibility and low confidence in the car I took it way too cautiously at the start and got punished for it slipping backwards and finishing p13 and 4th in class one of the frustrating drives Ive had but on me unfortunately.

Some good defensive driving from Sam Engineer placing his car in all the right spots

Overall not my finest days racing but could have been worse big congratulations to Richard Walsh from Corellian Racing on a great drive to a the 3rd place podium in race 1 no easy task 👏👏 💪

Next stop snetterton 14/15 June one on my favours going to try and come back stronger 💪
