And with that it’s wraps!!
Ladies and gents and everyone in between what a game we put on for the last one of the season n all!!
We were frankly dreadful in the first half conceding 4 and going into the break with no possible way back!
A galvanising speech from the gaffer clearly struck a cord however as we came out flying! Gavin struck the sweetest ball so hard it hit the bar, dropped into the goal and hung up in the net behind the crossbar 4-1!
Reece Miles then reduced the deficit to two after some loving words from ! Super Matti Holder cemented his place as the greatest Ravens player of all time bagging another from right back! Hindmarsh scored an absolute screamer striking it top right bind to draw us level and then the only man it could have been! Captain Kinger with a diving header in the dying embers to give us all three points in front of the Vale Massive!
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN APART OF THIS CLUB AND COME TO SHOW US SUPPORT RAIN OR SHINE!
There’s so many of you to be grateful for, spectators, players, rivals and refs you’ve all made it one hell of a story, five years on and we’ve only gotten better season by season! If you are around June 27th please show some love to The Gloster Arms and join us for a drink during our awards night!
Who are we? What do we do?

FINAL GAME OF THE SEASON!

FULL-TIME
Ravenhill 4-0 Callow Lions
We haven’t trained in months, barely managed to field a squad and somehow kept a clean sheet and bagged four on our return home with a gaffer that smelt like a brewery, and not a nice one.
Scoring opened through our man Porter after the ball was whipped into him, excellent work by Hill who drew the keeper and gave Sean an open goal to place it.
The second came this time through Lewis who thumped it bottom corner to make it 2-0 on the stroke of HT.
Callow came into their own in the second half but Griffiths and McIntosh were brick walls, sweeping up everything and playing out through Adam and Jacko! Hill made some superb saves to deny Callow who’d struck the upright twice in the first 45! We found an opening for the third through some lovely play out to Buckley who adds another to his tally this year!
The final goal of the day was scored by Hill, this time with the worst assist ever, after the ball struck both of Glavtchev’s knees but a goals a goal 4-0
MACCA IM SO SORRY I DONT KNOW HOW I BLIPPED ON THE FACT YOU PLAYED AND CHURCH DIDNT HUGELY IMPRESSIVE FULL 90 AFTER MONTHS

Perrywood 5-3 Ravenhill
Don’t smile because it’s over, cry because it happened. The season is all but over for us so it’s just vibes from here on out, congratulations Cobras on your league win, what a sad little life Jane. We had 9 men to face Perrywood on the back of two days notice to play so it’d have been a miracle if we got anything out the game but you know what? We were f**king class. We played with intensity, integrity and for Buckley, intelligence. We took the lead inside 30 minutes after Buckley rinsed the entire Perrywood backline! They drew level, a lovely assist for Jackson who played them in. HT.
We then went 2-1 up again through Adam who was played a peach by Porter from kick off, scenes, it was like a movie until Perrywood drew level again. Perrywood then took the lead after the gaffer decided to go to sleep at the back post, stick to managing k**bhead. Buckley drew us level again but Perrywood had strength in numbers and in quick succession bagged a fourth and fifth. Not the result we wanted but it certainly wasn’t reflective of what we expected! The lads played their socks off, had fun doing it too! Mini was spraying balls left and right, the back four were in constant action, Tony and Sean always looked lethal going forward and fair play Kinger kept us all laughing, Buckley if you played like that every week you’d be starting for Liverpool, but you don’t so you’re not.
Next up: Callow Lions

Ravenhill 1-3 Cobras
It ends in defeat, all credit to Cobras, they were tenacious from the off and showed their desire to win the game throughout. Some poor officiating always helps but we have to collect ourselves and fight in the remaining three fixtures if we want to win the league. Out of our hands now

Callow Lions 0-6 Ravenhill
We kicked off light on players but we were fighting for the badge from the off! Control in the midfield with Porter linking well with Jackson and Bradder, we had plenty of chances early, Buckley burning his man to feed Miles but we saw a flurry of questionable offsides and frankly we were let off with some too (Reece and Tom will be grateful this one wasn’t on camera). Callow grew into the half but didn’t cause Holder and his back line too much concern, with Hindmarsh and Chacksfield linking well down the left to nullify any danger. The first goal came shortly before the end of the half with a well worked ball by Buckley to find Miles who dinked a little cross in to Jacko, beating the keeper in the process, leaving a nice open goal for us to take the lead!
Despite a couple of stray misfires, Miles got his goal ten minutes later, the ball again coming from the left through Buckley, credit to the Callow keeper he was first to everything but couldn’t do enough to deny Miles! Minutes later Bradder was brought down by the keeper but failed to convert his penalty. HT
With one sub in Jones, who was carrying a knock, we returned to play unchanged and things picked up for us! Porter was an aerial threat all game, winning the first ball and playing out to Harding or back into the middle through Bradder. The partnership between Churchill and Hindmarsh paid dividends as our ability to play out from the back was fantastic, beating the press and playing between the lines well! More danger down the left, Buckley saw his strike parried by the keeper but it fell into the path of Miles again who made sure it crossed the line (this has been disputed heavily) 3-0,
We bagged our fourth again through Miles to secure his hat trick and Buckleys hat trick of assists, a very formidable partnership! Chacksfield was denied a world class assist as he beat his first man with a flick over the top and then followed up with more of the same against the second before delivering into the box but Miles couldn’t get a shot away. He did however make amends by scoring a 4th! The final goal coming through Kenzie to seal the points, 6-0 Ravens

A must win game as we face Callow Lions away from home!

AFC Palace 1-1 Ravenhill
A hard fought point on the road against league chasers Palace.
Both sides were short on numbers with the ravens without some big names in the side. Play got underway and we had some good opening spells particularly with link ups between Buckley and Bradder, but the balls over the top weren’t enough to unlock Boswell against some pretty strong winds. Harding was electric down the right, beating his man and delivering but we couldn’t convert. Holder was resolute at the back claiming corner balls and sending the ball upfield but the wind held it up and killed any chance of a counter. Churchill was solid at the back sweeping up any danger with counterpart Squid. The best chance of the half came from Hardings miss directed header, 0-0 HT.
The second half saw the introduction of Hodgkins replacing Jones who’d had a steady half carrying a calf injury. Similarly we had plenty of the share of the ball but we were unable to convert, the best effort coming from Boswell who unfortunately was withdrawn through injury. Moments later Bradder capitalised on a deflection rifling it low, under the Palace keeper, who had an outstanding game to make it 1-0. We were in control of the game until going ahead, the deficit seemingly igniting a fire in the palace side who capitalised on an unforced error at the back to make it 1-1 before the final whistle.
Dropping points puts us in danger of missing out on silverware if we can’t maintain momentum 👀 a very long few weeks ahead
