Our doors are closed.

Not because we want them to be — but because every single foster home is full of cats who have nowhere else to go.

And the worst part? Not one of them — not one — has had an adoption enquiry.
https://www.rspca.org.uk/local/findapet/-/rspca/bedfordshire-south-and-mid-hertfordshire-branch

Not the adults. Not the kittens. Not the black cats. Not the black‑and‑white cats. Not the ones who’ve waited months. Not the ones who’ve already survived more than any animal should.

They’re all being overlooked.Every. Single. One.

Our fosters are doing everything they can. They’re giving up their spare rooms, their sleep, their time, their hearts. But they can’t take another cat.We can’t take another cat.And the ones already in our care are starting to fade.

Because being unwanted… changes a cat.

The adults grow quieter. They watch the door every time someone walks in, hoping it’s their person. They press their heads into your hands a little longer, because they don’t know if anyone else ever will.

The kittens — the ones who should be snapped up instantly — sit waiting too.Not because they’re shy. Not because they’re difficult. But because they’re black, or black‑and‑white, and people still choose colour over character.

Colour.Over love.Over personality.Over the chance to save a life.

We see it every day. The ginger kitten gets ten enquiries. The tabby gets five. The black kitten gets none. The black‑and‑white adult gets ignored like they’re invisible.

And it’s breaking us.

We can’t help the next emergency. We can’t take the next stray. We can’t save the next mum and babies. Not until someone chooses the cats who are already here — waiting, watching, hoping.

If you’ve ever thought about adopting…If you’ve ever wanted to make a difference…If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to be someone’s miracle…

Please look at the cats people walk past. The black ones. The black‑and‑white ones. The adults. The quiet ones. The ones who don’t scream for attention because they’ve learned not to expect it.

They’re not “less adoptable”. They’re just less chosen. And right now, they’re heartbroken.
