You know why most of the best active guys don’t tell you the truth about progression in BJJ??

Because the truth sells less instructionals and seminars…

Roger Gracie isn’t phenomenal at a mounted cross collar choke because he has 500 techniques from there - neither has Marcelo Garcia from a guillotine, Terere from passing, Gordon from butterfly….

They are world class because they understand the fundamental principles from the position and have hit it hundreds of thousands of times on thousands of people - so the timing, awareness, weight distribution and positioning are nearly flawless.

The boring truth is most BJJ students are trying to learn too much, something I constantly repeat and a hill I’ll die on - if you became world class at the first 20 things you learn as a white belt you’d be better than 90% of BJJ practitioners on the planet.

Short attention spans and instagram technique clips have made progress look boring - don’t fall into the trap.
