Join us on Saturday 15th August as we come together at the club to honour and remember a true friend, teammate, and one of our very own, Phil Stone.

The club will be open from 12 noon, with kick-off scheduled for 2.30pm.

While the current state of the pitch means we are still finalising the exact format of the rugby on the day, the most important pieces of the puzzle are completely locked in. The referees are sorted, the teams are ready to go, and the spirit of the club is stronger than ever. No matter what the final run-out looks like on the grass, we are going to celebrate Phil the best way we know how—through rugby and community.

This is a day for the entire Melksham Rugby Club family, past and present. We need all of you to come down, pack the sidelines, and fill the clubhouse with the stories, laughter, and memories that made Phil such a massive part of our lives.

We are also incredibly proud to have Man Down UK on-site with us throughout the day. They are a fantastic non-profit community interest company providing free, confidential, peer-led talking groups for men experiencing mental health challenges. Having them here is a powerful reminder of how vital it is to look out for one another, both on and off the pitch.

Please mark your calendars, spread the word, and let’s make this a beautiful day of rugby and remembrance for Phil. See you all there. 🏉💙

A huge thank you to Melksham Stags - Mixed Ability Rugby for delivering such an incredible session with our Healthy Man group 🙌

It was a fantastic evening full of laughter, connection and celebration. The group had the chance to chat with players and hear how rugby has helped build friendships, create a real sense of belonging, and support both physical and mental wellbeing ❤️

We’re already looking forward to visiting the club in the coming weeks for a rematch – and some well-earned time in the clubhouse after! 🏉

Next week, we’re heading to Melksham Community Campus for pickleball and spinning – we can’t wait 💪

We got a camera out and guess who turned up…

Yep it’s our captain Phil Owens.

Phil shares his perspective on what makes the stags unique, why it’s open to everyone and sets arguably the safest bet you’ll find on the internet this year.

Thanks again to everyone who has contributed to this series…

And thanks again to Jackcsmedia for their help in putting this together.

It’s another recruitment Friday

This week it’s Finlay Irn-bru Collins turn to talk to us.

Finlay joined the stags at the start of the year and has proved to be a brilliant addition to the squad.

Listen to his open and honest feelings around the social benefits he’s found this year, his experience of inclusivity and what he gets from being in squad.

And yeh, we’ll have him back again next year 🦌👍🏻

It is with great regret we have to share the tragic news that Phil Stone passed away on Wednesday morning.

Phil was a huge part of the MRFC family and we are truly heartbroken by the news. Phil was an integral part of the Club, known and loved by many, involved not only as a player, but a coach, mentor and dear friend.

He was an amazing man who could light up a room, bringing huge energy and smiles to others.

The club will be putting a memorial event together when the time is right. For now, our thoughts and condolences go out to his family, children and close ones at this difficult time.

We also want to remind everyone that nobody has to face difficult moments alone. There will always be someone at MRFC willing to help, listen and support.

Rest in peace, Phil. You will not be forgotten.

🚨Recruitment (Thursday)🚨

It’s the managers turn as Richard Grieshaber, one of the OG Stags takes the chair to talk to us about his reasons for joining the Stags, why he feels the squad is unique and why you should look to get involved.

Rich has been with the Stags since the start and has been pivotal to the team getting off the ground and being in the position it is now.

He has also started Melksham Avros, the Walking rugby squad that has been a fantastic success story within the club.

The man doesn’t stop.
