We are a charity-run community leisure centre, with a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and 2 gyms.
As a focal point of the Jesmond Community, Jesmond Pool has an unusual history. Originally opened in 1938, the pool was closed by the Council in 1991. Within a year a registered charity and limited company, called Jesmond Swimming Project, was formed to lease the building from the Council, employ staff, and reopen the pool as a public facility. Ever since, the organisation has gone from strength t
o strength, seeing various renovations including the addition of an Activity Room and Fitness Suite. POOL, SAUNA AND STEAM ROOM
You will find Jesmond Pool offers more public swimming times than any other in the area, and features lane swimming, consistent early morning and late evening swimming, 29 degrees C water temperature, full access for people with disabilities, magnificent glass fronted poolside sauna and steam room that overlook the pool hall. Within the pool we offer numerous private and group swimming lessons as well as crash courses for both adults and children from age 3+. FITNESS SUITE
Our fitness suite is a purpose built, air conditioned room, containing over 30 exercise stations. Following the recent renewal of all equipment the Fitness Suite now offers personal TV screens on all CV equipment, more treadmills and cross trainers, a new AMT (adaptive motion trainer), and more specific resistance provision. From self motivated sessions in the gym to instructor lead classes, we're sure you'll find something to suit. ACTIVITY ROOM
This room is used for many activities, including: Aerobics, dance, yoga, pilates, table tennis, meetings, circuits, body toning, holistic treatments, spinning, boxercise, martial arts, tai chi and many others. The room has a sprung floor, is air conditioned and has a roomy comfortable feel about it whether being used for a childrenβs party with a bouncy castle and soft play, or hosting an action packed fitness class. ποΈπ₯³ He did it!
Board member John Mills completed Rat Race The Wall on Saturday, covering an incredible 70 miles from Carlisle to Wallsend.
John crossed the finish line in an impressive 15 hours, burning a hefty 9,500 calories along the way. Thankfully, a strong tailwind helped him on his journey, and he was still looking remarkably fresh as he cruised down the Quayside and across the Millennium Bridge to the finish.
As always, John is taking on his 2026 ultramarathon challenges in support of Tiny Lives.
A fantastic effort, John, and we wish him all the best for his next challenge. π
If youβd like to support John and this worthwhile cause, you can donate here:

Many of you may not know that in my spare time I volunteer with Wallsend Sea Cadets, and have done so for over 20 years. Before becoming a volunteer, I was a Sea Cadet myself for more than 10 years.
Our unit is currently in desperate need of a new roof, and we are working hard to raise the Β£50,000 needed to cover the cost. As a charity-run organisation, we rely heavily on fundraising and the generosity of our local community.
We have set up a GoFundMe page to help raise the money needed. Any donation, no matter how small, would be hugely appreciated and will help us continue providing opportunities and support for young people in our area.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for any support you can give.
π Congratulations to this trio of open water swimmers!
Our own Liz Winn, swim teacher and Chair of the Communications Group (right), Board Member Belinda Whitworth (centre) and regular Jesmond Pool swimmer Joanne Kerr (left) took on the Great North Swim over the weekend.
Braving choppy conditions and cool temperatures, all three successfully completed the swim β a fantastic achievement.
A fantastic achievement and one they should be very proud of. Well done, ladies! πββοΈπ
