The Ravens put in a fantastic team performance against Corbridge, showing great determination and teamwork throughout. Claire and Katie gave us a solid start with the bat before Jodie anchored the middle order, while Kim and Ruth finished the innings strongly with some excellent running between the wickets.
With the ball, Ruth set the tone with an accurate opening spell before Jane stole the show. She claimed a superb four-wicket haul, supported by outstanding catches from Liv, Jules and Katie, as well as taking a catch herself. Although Corbridge reached the target in the 13th over, the Ravens can be incredibly proud of a spirited performance full of energy, commitment and memorable moments.
🌟Jane was a deserved Raven of the Match, but there were plenty of champagne moments across the team.

We would also like to take a moment to wish honorary raven Chloe a safe trip back to Canada- for someone who didn’t know what cricket was until last week, you’ve been a fabulous edition to our team and thrown yourself right in! ❤️
We hope we get the chance to see you again for some cricket next year 🤩👏

Busy week for our senior teams & some wins in the bag 🙌

1st XI:
Back to back wins for our first XI as we faced Whickham at home this Saturday! Bowling first, Riding mill took early wickets, and despite an impressive performance from their young E.Morris (68), they eventually were all out for 99. Michael Collins shone with the ball taking 6/48 off 11 overs, neatly supported by Andy Watson 3/7 off 2.3 overs. Some early wickets when batting made the target look larger than it was, until Nick Rodger came in for an unbeaten 45 to finish the match. Thanks to the Whickham lads for a good game and great to see so many talented youngsters coming through their ranks!🤩

2nd XI:
After a close loss last week, the 2nd team fought back for a well earned close win against Stamfordham 2nd XI. Bowling first too, young Joah had a great spell with the ball taking 3 wickets for just 30 runs off his 9 overs, with the help of opener Tim Willis’ early wickets and economical spell, Stamfordham were all out for 141. Skipper Jonny played a strong innings for 53, but as wickets fell the game got closer, when vice Becca came in with Sam at the crease and 24 needed off the final few overs, they managed to push it over the line🙌

Robins (Women’s Softball):
The Robins came up against a strong opposition, falling short in runs but had a fabulous time with some top performances! Pair Ruth and Laura had some rapid running between the wickets, putting on 20 for their pair and Jane started with the ball, bowling 2 wickets for just 1 run!! Kim was Robin of the match, smashing some 4’s and taking a great catch. Thankyou to Benwell and Walbottle for a lovely game as always 😍

Friendly XI:
Our Friendly XI had the pleasure of a reignited fixture with old friends as we took the short journey to Medomsley CC. Batting first, Riding Mill put on 129/7 from their overs, with Andy and youngster Jasper building a good lower order partnership. Medomsley had a strong opening pair of 49 before it was broken by young Joah. Katie took their middle order before the youngsters finished it in a closely matched game. Thanks Medomsley for hosting us and hopefully see more of you in the future!!

Senior League Results🏏

After a hefty rain delay in the middle of both second innings, the 8pm cut-off was looming large, turning both matches into a fascinating game of almost timed cricket. Let’s just say tensions were high right to the final ball in both fixtures!

The 1st XI produced another outstanding display with the ball, led by Katie Smith, whose superb spell of 4 wickets broke up Wylam’s opening partnership and kept us firmly in the contest. Chasing a tricky target, the two Michaels dug in brilliantly to build a crucial partnership that gave us a platform. With the clock becoming just as important as the scoreboard, skipper Rory Young and youngster Matthew Hunter showed great composure to bat out the remaining overs and secure a well-earned winning draw.

The 2nd XI were delighted to hand debuts to Ryan Tindale and Sai Yarramsetty, and what an introduction they made. Ryan starred with a superb 50 on debut, before backing it up with 2 wickets, while Sai also made an immediate impact by claiming 2 wickets of his own. Despite a fantastic all-round effort from the team, Wylam managed to edge over the line in the final over with just one ball to spare after the match had been reduced due to time.

Huge congratulations to our debutants, and well played to everyone involved in two fiercely competitive games.🔥🏏

A great win from the 1st XI on Saturday!!!

In the first innings Riding Mill lead with some outstanding bowling and fielding performances. With M. Collins bowling impressive figures of 4 for 30 from his 10 overs, consistently breaking partnerships and setting the tone for the innings. He was well supported by A. Watson, who picked up 2 for 25 in a controlled spell, and K. Smith, 2 for 11 from 4.3 overs ensured us a great first innings with RMCC bowling Haltwhistle out for 94 in 28.3 overs.

Chasing a target of 95, Riding Mill approached the task, K. Zurawlew played a key role in steadying the innings with 38, anchoring the chase and ensuring momentum stayed with Riding Mill. And of course, supported by A. Fletcher, who finished unbeaten on 26, finishing the game on 95/2 from 25.1 overs.

What a well deserved win 💙🏏
