The Oceanauts Rescue Marathon: One Weekend. Ultimate Preparedness.

The SSI Diver Stress & Rescue program is the most important course you will take. It transforms you into a high-readiness safety asset who prevents panic before it starts.

From Friday 19th June to Sunday 21st June, we are running our elite, fast-paced Rescue Marathon Weekend at Markethill Quarry.

Most places treat rescue training as a "one-and-done" checkbox. We think that is madness. Rusty skills don't save lives, sharp muscle memory does.

This weekend is not just for new candidates. We are opening slots for existing Rescue Divers and Pros who want a complete tactical refresh of BOTH their dry-land first aid and in-water rescue skills. Let's hammer out the rust.

The Blueprint:

♦️ Friday Evening (Online): Tactical stress psychology and theory verification.

♦️ Saturday (Markethill Quarry): Cold-water muscle memory. High-repetition shelf drills, followed by practical shoreline trauma, CPR, and oxygen management.

♦️ Sunday (Markethill Quarry): Full-scale open-water rescue scenarios. Missing diver searches, unresponsive diver ascents, and team management.

We wrap up Sunday afternoon with a team graduation ceremony.

This Week in Diving: Pro Pathways, New Divers, and Quarry Training.

We have a massive lineup over the next few days covering everything from professional career tracking to fresh entry-level shore dives. The weather has been a bit changeable lately, but we are pushing ahead regardless. Here is what the schedule looks like.

Wednesday Evening (7:00 PM): SSI Pro Pathway Online Talk
Join our Instructor Trainer, Dain McParland, for a free online event introducing the SSI professional pathway. If you have ever thought about turning your passion into a career, tune in to learn how to progress up the professional ladder and hear about our upcoming courses.

Thursday (10:00 AM - 5:30 PM): Workshop Day
We will be on the tools all day. If you need cylinders tested, tanks filled, or regulators dropped off for servicing, now is the time to get them booked in. The service bench is getting incredibly busy, so booking ahead is absolutely necessary.

Friday: Brand New Open Water Course Kicks Off
We are welcoming a new cohort of divers to the sport this Friday. We still have a couple of last-minute spots available for this run, so if you or someone you know wants to get certified, get in touch immediately to grab a space.

Saturday: Deep & Navigation Training at Markethill Quarry
Following on from our pro talk, we are heading to Markethill Quarry on Saturday. We have training slots available for anyone looking to complete their Deep Diving or Navigation specialties—essential building blocks for your advanced and pro-level certifications.

Sunday: Entry-Level Experiences at Greencastle Shore
We are wrapping up the week at Greencastle with a full day of entry-level experiences. While the try-dives are completely full, the shore is wide open. Certified shore divers are more than welcome to come down and join the crew, and guided dives are available on request.

Vandals recently broke into the Markethill Scuba facility, causing thousands of pounds in damage, ransacking the office, and throwing critical training gear, including a disabled-access chair, into the water.

Markethill is a vital training hub used by divers across Ireland and they have been doing their best to grow the facility into a real hub for local divers.

Please check out their fundraiser below to help them replace the damaged equipment and get back on track. Every little bit helps.
