Reversing out of a diet phase & increasing food 👉🏼

Sometimes, taking a small step back from constantly trying to get leaner, lighter or smaller is exactly what allows you to make a much bigger step forward to that end goal.

After a long period of dieting, challenging yourself to a new level, your body needs time to recover and respond.

It’s important to accept & trust the process, the sooner you give yourself the chance to actually move forward into the next phase.

My focus through a reverse phase is health, growth, strength, feeling good and having added flexibility. With less time worrying about how lean I looked and more time focusing on performing better in the gym and building a healthier body.

So with this approach, taking the focus away from how I look 👉🏼 and a lot more focus on how I feel.

A woman on a mission to better herself, her health and life without restriction ☺️❤️‍🔥

Within our initial chat I explained to Sam that I would be asking her to eat more than her current “dieting” calories that she had set for herself. And initially for anyone telling them that you’re asking them to eat more food when wanting to lose weight / drop fat can seem confusing.

After one week it was clear to see that the “diet” Sam had been following wasn’t too accurate, and this wasn’t down to the calorie goal set but more the extra calories on the side, the food not weighed and just roughly guessed. This is where dieting can easily slip up, when we guess, or over restrict and cut calories drastically which leads to eating a lot more in moments and thinking that this is all “balanced” - when in reality this is just an endless cycle or weight gain or maintenance.

So we had the goals and then together we created a structure that worked, and this has shown with Sam’s adherence and want to better herself ☺️ With 7kg down on the scales, 12cm off her hips and 9cm off her waist, and the health shifts we have seen have been HUGE - taking the focus off fat loss, but more so on health, wellbeing, relationship with exercise and self confidence & belief.

So so so proud of the progress Sam has made mentally, through life and navigating this fat loss.

From the beginning of April the focus and effort has been clear, by putting in the work and simply following the plan set ☺️

The plan:
A steady daily step goal, which we gradually tapered up when achieved week on week, to now hold at what we be routine.
Cardio was added for the first three months and then removed to help with rate of loss.
A set calorie deficit, focusing on a 0.2-0.3kg rate of loss, with holiday diet breaks and weekends off tracking.

100% from the start, made it feel easier throughout, less pressure and more accountability, watching the hard work pay off.

How long are you willing to postpone the life you really want in exchange for the comfort of where you are right now? 🤍

Because sometimes “comfortable” isn’t actually where we’re meant to stay, it comes with ease but also annoyance.

It’s staying in the job that drains you because it’s familiar or keeping in the relationship, routine, or situation because starting again feels scary.

The bigger version of your life feels uncertain and actually asks you to step out the box.

Just bloooooming go for it 🌻 take a risk.

And that risk doesn’t mean completely changing your life, but it starts with one step, setting the goal and actually committing to it ☝🏽

So how much longer are you waiting??? We’re going into a season, let that season be the one where you focus on you !

stop trying to force yourself to fit into a box that actually doesn’t exist ☝🏽

we very often ask ourselves to do things that are hard and out of reach, that push us and make us work - and that I am totally here for

but if it is something you can’t do continuously live in it, then it’s not your version of perfect and a healthy happy life!

we can set short term goals and achieve them, hold it for a short period of time and then change OR we can set long term goals and keep them sustained for a long period of time if not for life - you choose your option

but pleaseeeee stop asking yourself to be or do spending that quite frankly isn’t going to happen, or be achievable because maybe that’s someone else goal or life 🩷🩵

Please don’t think you’ll get where you want to be without actually working for it👀☝🏽

The work you’re putting in really matters, so quit going easy when what you want takes a lot more effort!!!

Lock in, stay focused, make changes, show up again and again and know that the work you put it, pays.

So when motivation is nowhere to be found, you keep doing the work and try, do the best you can in that moment.

You might not see the changes yet & might feel like you should be further along.
That doesn’t mean your effort isn’t working.

Keep showing up and trusting in yourself please 🧚🏼🤟🏼🩷

And this is what I wish more women understood:
to have the “toned” physique you don’t necessarily need another deficit, you need to ensure you have enough muscle to showcase when you drop body fat.

And no, this doesn’t mean getting jacked, but avoiding weights and doing endless cardio, and dieting won’t get you there.

Having a good structure that works for you is important, feeling your body correctly, and actually trusting yourself that your hard work will pay off. But you have to enjoy it, and if you don’t, then maybe it’s the wrong goal.

So the low calories may need to go for a period of time, to allow yourself to build shape. And that doesn’t mean just eat like crazy, but it does come with more flexibility when weight training is paired with it.

I used to think that dieting was the only answer, but it’s learning that building your dream physique comes in phases.

Pushing yourself, weight and resistance training, fuelling the body and eating more. Then after a good period of time (I would recommend 6 months comfortably) of gradual food increase and strength increase in the gym, you can look at maintenance and then dieting again.

BUT this is then a rinse and repeat, up/ hold/ down etc.

If you need more help on how to achieve the physique you want, and remove the confusion - just message 🩷
