Brooke V Lowestoft, Denes Oval, Tue 16 Jun 26

Brooke Cricket Club U9s edged out in excellent game at Lowestoft

Brooke U9s were narrowly beaten away at Lowestoft in a really enjoyable and evenly matched game at The Denes Oval.

Lowestoft won the toss and chose to bowl first, with Brooke posting 233 from their 16 overs.

There was some really positive running between the wickets, with the batters communicating brilliantly and looking to take quick singles whenever they could.

Raphi F batted well for 4, including a lovely boundary, while Aadhish M and Molly B showed real courage against some excellent Lowestoft bowling. It was probably the quickest and most accurate bowling they had faced, and both did brilliantly to keep watching the ball, trust their technique and look for scoring opportunities.

Lowestoft batted well in reply and finished on 244, but Brooke made them work hard throughout. Charlie M made a brilliant start with two early wickets in the first over, while Molly B also struck with a wicket in a very tidy spell. Aadhish M bowled with excellent control again, taking a wicket and finishing the innings superbly with two very tight overs.

There was also some great bowling from Harry D, who bowled a maiden, and Kit B, who also kept things very tight and bowled a maiden of his own. Henry S and Arthur TT both worked hard with the ball too against a Lowestoft side who ran well and put pressure on the field.

Lowestoft were deserved winners on the night, but it was a very close game between two well matched teams. Brooke can be really proud of the way they played, especially their communication, bravery with the bat and attitude right to the end.

Brooke can also take great pride in their league position, currently sitting second in the table. There are some brilliant individual efforts too, with Aadhish M and Molly B currently first and second respectively in the league’s top scorers. Aadhish M is also second in the league wicket takers, with Charlie M third and Arthur TT fourth. Impressive stuff from the whole squad.

Brooke Cricket Club U9s earn excellent home win against Norwich

Brooke U9s continued their strong start to the season with an excellent 16 run win at home against Norwich.

Norwich won the toss and chose to bowl first, with Brooke posting a very competitive 237 from their 16 overs. There was some determined batting throughout the order, with Noah W on debut making a confident 6 and Molly B striking a lovely boundary early on.

The standout batting performance came from Aadhish M, who played a superb innings of 21 from 14 balls, including four boundaries. He batted with real confidence and helped Brooke finish strongly, including a final over that added 13 runs.

With the ball, Brooke were excellent. Aadhish M completed a brilliant all round performance by taking 3 wickets for just 8 runs from his 3 overs. Charlie M bowled beautifully, taking 2 wickets for 7 runs, including a maiden, while Arthur TT was outstanding at the end, taking 2 wickets for just 3 runs from his 2 overs.

There was also excellent control from William B, who went for only 4 runs from his 2 overs, and Molly B, who conceded just 5 from her 2 overs. Brooke kept the pressure on throughout the innings, with regular wickets making the difference.

There was some brilliant work in the field too, with Raphi F keeping wicket superbly and taking an outstanding caught behind. Arthur TT also showed great awareness late on, reacting quickly to take the opportunity for a run out on the penultimate ball.

Norwich battled well, but Brooke’s disciplined bowling and fielding saw them finish on 221, giving Brooke a very well deserved win.

A brilliant team performance and another great effort from all the players.
