☀️ It’s just 2 weeks until kids return to school! 🎒 Parents - is your child ready?

With school just two weeks away, now is a great time to get your child started with something new — rather than waiting until September when everything suddenly gets busy again. 💨

Starting now gives them a couple of weeks to:

✅ Get active again – rebuilding that regular movement and exercise after the summer break.

✅ Get back into a routine – having somewhere to be, listening to instructions and following a structured class can help make the return to school feel less abrupt.

✅ Build confidence – learning practical skills, overcoming challenges and seeing themselves improve.

✅ Develop focus & discipline – all while having fun, working with other kids and burning off some energy!

And, of course, they’ll learn practical, age-appropriate self-defence skills designed to help them become more aware, confident and capable. ✅

The goal is to help our kids feel safer, fitter, smarter and ALWAYS READY. 💪

If you’ve been thinking about getting your child into something active for September, why not give them a head start now?

Old school drill! 🚨

The striker in the middle constantly working on jabs and crosses, until a secondary target approaches prompting the striker to switch targets utilising a side hammer. Repeat multiple times at different angles for about 2.5 minutes. 💪

Nice action shot here of Stuart - he absolutely cooked (inside joke). 🤫

Dealing with wrist grabs! 💪

Starting off with - Soft solutions (break aways) ✅
Ideal solutions for releasing attachments and making space without escalating. Fast simple release to make space and verbally deescalate! Ideal anti-grappling skills for an environment such as school! 🎓

Finishing off with hard solitons! ✅
Sending strikes to encourage the attacker to let go. More applicable for an adult attacker outside of the school environment, or an attacker trying to drag us to a secondary location! 🥊

Good simple skills to release wrist grabs 👌

Fun cardio based warm up for our kids class today! ✅

To warm up today we had students jogging around the room and, when activated, sprinting into jumping kicks. 🦵

Jumping kicks are a lot of fun! But where is the practical application? 🤔 Usually we say to kick knees, groin and maybe mid section to reduce the risk of slipping and falling. So what is the need for jumping kicks? What’s the practical reason behind it? 👇

We teach jumping kicks as a breaking tool. The scenario - you’ve escaped an attack and are sprinting to the exit. Suddenly your path is obscured by an attacker who steps in your path - maybe to tackle you or slow your escape down. 👀

When sprinting suddenly stopping is hard, so we teach to turn that momentum into a stiff leg kick, land and to then counter strike immediately. ✅

As you can see - we worked it into a fun warm up, pushing/ improving our students cardio, and creating a fun objective that kids and teens love! 🥊

Nice job Patrick and Maliki! Getting reps in on side headlock releases, working at a nice controlled rate before we increased the attackers resistance. 🥊

Before you learn to apply the technique under pressure, you first need to rep it statically to understand component parts and ensure you’re hitting all the check points correctly. Once you understand those - you can start adding pressure. ✅

Working hard on side headlock releases, as well as some top secret ground work material 🤫

Having fun in our Junior and Senior Warrior classes last week as we played a simple game that introduced them to third party protection concepts. 🥊

Self-defence isn’t always about protecting yourself, but friends and loved ones too! ✅ This game taught our students the footwork for stepping in front of a friend - ready to protect them from a threat. 🚨 Later we layered on verbal deescalation, pre-emptive strikes, and defences against set attacks! 🥊
