We offer ridden and non ridden equestrian opportunities for children and adults with disabilities.

We are a friendly team on a small yard in the Vale of Belvoir, we like to offer a riding service to children and adults who have a love for horses, they are also a good way of helping with disabilities through balance and rhythm ponies give back such a lot too.

We’re so very sad to say that this week we had to say goodbye to our darling Roma.

Roma joined our Belvoir Vale family in 2016 on loan from Kesteven Rideability. He had a huge impact right from the very start as a well established RDA pony and we were very proud that he secured an RDA long service award. Once with us, and with hooves firmly under the table, we purchased him in 2017 and he was worth his weight in gold.

Roma has been an absolute superstar. His amazingly kind and patient nature saw him take centre stage for many of our riders as their first pony. He forged a number of very special relationships over the years and was very loved by us all. Whilst kind and patient was at his core he did also have a cheeky side and there have been many days where it felt like leading a grand national competitor out to the field! 🐎

In recent years Roma has enjoyed a steadier life of grooming, tea with a pony and general pampering as well as long lazy days out in the field with his besties Molly, Ruby and Baloo.

His passing leaves a Roma shaped hole in all of our hearts. His name will live on in the Roma-therapy room but it’s no substitute for a cuddle with our precious boy.

So, this is very hard to write but please sleep easy our special friend. Thank you for all you did for so many people. We’ll miss you always. Today you sent us a rainbow so we could remember you …… 🌈 ❤️🐴❤️

Lovely to see everyone on Monday

𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐒𝐔𝐂𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐅𝐔𝐋 𝐑𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍 𝐌𝐄𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀𝐓 𝐁𝐄𝐋𝐕𝐎𝐈𝐑 𝐕𝐀𝐋𝐄 𝐑𝐃𝐀 🐴

It was great to have representatives from ten different RDA groups from across the region at our Open Meeting on Monday. Amongst the topics discussed were what our RDA region currently does and what it could do in the future, ideas for better communication, challenges faced by groups & ways to support these and more. We were also joined by Kyle and Becky with updates from National Office.

Everyone enjoyed the chance to get together and catch up with RDA friends old & new. Huge thanks to Belvoir Vale RDA group for hosting the meeting and organising lunch. There was real enthusiasm to have more opportunities like this throughout the region, so watch out for news about these.

We're all part of the RDA North Midlands Region - every RDA group across Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire.

Behind the scenes, a team of RDA UK volunteers - your regional committee - provides support, training and events for groups across the region. What we're able to offer depends entirely on the time, commitment and resources those volunteers bring.

You'll know from your own group: the more volunteers you have, and the more they put in, the stronger the group. It's exactly the same for the region — and it's the region's groups that benefit when it's stronger.

Could you or your group help?

We're looking for ideas, time, knowledge or resources — a seat on the committee is just one of many ways to contribute. Many of our current volunteers have been in their roles for a long time, and fresh faces and fresh ideas would benefit everyone.

We're holding a regional open meeting on Monday 12th October, 10.30am–2.30pm, at Belvoir Vale RDA group, Colston Road, Cropwell Bishop, NG12 3BJ. Lunch is provided.

It's for anyone interested in the future of RDA in our region — volunteers, coaches, trustees and anyone interested in supporting our region are all welcome. There's no commitment in coming along; it's simply a chance to have your say on how the region and RDA UK work together, and to catch up with everyone from across the region.
