I met my 41 yo self for coffee…
😔 She was so tired and her hair was falling out because she wasn’t nourishing herself.
Some things I would say to her….
First of all “I LOVE you” 🥰
Oh hun I see you- it’s all such alot!
You are about to go on the self discovery journey of your life.
It sucks right now- and it will come good… you are working it all out. Keep using your curiosity.
This is not “your fault”.
Your body, brain 🧠 emotions and world are being rocked. You haven’t been here before. You will draw a new map.
It’s a process you can’t hurry.
But these things will help (in reel)
What would you tell your pre perimenopause self?
Love
Sophia

There is alot of fear and anger but also many welcomed the Panorama episode entitled "The Menopause Industry Uncovered" this week. For those of you who were unable to watch or confused... here I summarise key points, the effects and conversations around it and my views. Of course I am not a medical professional - but I do work with the NHS and in private practice with midlife women adhering to the highest standards of care. And I am a midlife woman. Hope you find this helpful. If you are worried about your care please contact your doctor or an medical professional who listens to you and can give you a second opinion. Feel free to reach out to me if you are worried and I will do my very best to put you in touch with someone who can help (again, I am not a medical pro)!

This picture was taken 14 years ago.
She was 4, I was 36.
Who knows, I may have already been in peri. We were at Carnival in Notting Hill and loving it!
I knew that we would be travel buddies since I took her home to Greece at 6 months.
I always hoped for getaway adventures together and we worked with little wins as time and money were directed towards family life . Trips to the supermarket, getting on the bus, walking to school, folding laundry. Every little win in the direction you long for matters. As I see it, I am a companion to my kids and a guide leading by example. I also screw up and apologise when I do. I am not interested in a pedastal and I believe respect is earnt not a given. I believe in showing ourselves and sharing our lives with love and that if I and Jesse can provide them with strong roots they will find their wings. I believe they have their own soul so when things f)ck up for them it’s not “my fault” and not my responsibility to fix them- but to support and guide. It has taken me 18 years of parenting to come to these conclusions and to learn to sit with them rather than constantly provide solutions.
I wasn’t going to write a post with all this- I was just going to tell you Stella 🌟 and I are travelling in Mexico together. She is 18, I am 50. It’s making me very happy to roam and be here and even more so to come together - and I feel like somehow she is getting a glimpse of how it might be for her to travel the world in a few months with other friends too. Last time I went backpacking I was her age- 18. I turned 19 in southern India and we smoked pot with some randos who thankfully turned out to be ok. Stella and any other teens who may be here don’t do this! 😬
Anyway, we are here and I am posting on my stories if you want to follow . As it’s Blue Monday today you might be experiencing some blues and if you are I completely get you- that’s me pretty much every year, I get SAD and need sunshine ☀️. I know my privilege and am going to be sharing some colourful experiences and images mainly on my stories to bring you sunshine too.
