Here’s how our five league sides line up, as the 1s host Abergavenny Cricket Club, the 2s travel to Blackwood Town Cricket Club, the 3s entertain Hopkinstown Cricket Club, the 4s take the trip to Abergavenny Cricket Club III, and the 5s host Miskin Manor CC IV at St Cyres.

Cricket Week | Day 7

What a great evening to bring down the curtain on our 175th anniversary cricket week, with a T20 against Penarth RFC raising vital funds for Here for Welsh kidney patients.

The cricket club ran out winners by just 3 runs, in what was a great game of cricket that kept the spectators thoroughly entertained.

Thanks to everyone who donated, it’s hugely appreciated.

Cricket Week | Day 6

Yesterday we hosted the at Penarth in a 40-over game as part of our Cricket Week to celebrate 175 years.

Our very own Mark Thomas was leading the XL Club, with Greg Cross captaining the Penarth side in what was a fantastic day of cricket.

XL Club scored a competitive 221/5, with 94* (91) for Bharat Ramanathan leading with the bat, with Luke Summerfield (3/39) and JP Varanasi (2/30) the wicket takers.

In reply, Penarth chased down the total with two overs to spare thanks to significant contributions from Greg Cross (80*) & Michael Rameshkumar (66).

Thanks again to Perry’s Pitstop Cafe who have catered our games this week, with rave reviews from all parties that were lucky enough to enjoy one of your feasts 😋

Cricket Week | Day 7 🏏

This evening’s game marks the finale of our 175th anniversary Cricket Week, and what a way to finish, with a T20 game against Penarth RFC for the “Battle of the Athletic Club Ashes”.

The game raises much needed funds for Here for Welsh kidney patients and the club, so please come and support and consider donating.

The Wales District of the XL Club are captained by our 9-time club captain Nick Morgan, with fellow member and club legend Mark Thomas leading their side today.

Cricket Week | Day 2 vs South Wales Hunts 🏏

This past Sunday we welcomed the South Wales Hunts to Penarth as part of our anniversary cricket week, with the Hunts team containing several ex-Penarth players amongst their ranks.

The game was played in great spirits with Penarth running out winners, chasing down 233 in quick time. For the Hunts, Will Skone (59), Jonathan Hughes (31) and captain Rhys Morgan (79*) were the main contributors, with the wickets shared around for Penarth.

In return, Sai Kamuni (58rtno) got the chase off to a flyer, with Adeeb Ilyas (100*) playing the innings of the day to ensure a Penarth victory, with support from Greg Cross (36).

Huge thanks to Perry’s Pitstop Cafe for catering the game, providing la fantastic lunch and tea for players and supporters.

Earlier in July we were able to present Penarth tops to our very kind, loyal and generous playing kit sponsors after another highly energetic All Stars & Dynamos night at the club.

It was a great opportunity for us to be able to recognise the significant impact that sponsors have on a community club like ours, and we’re so grateful for their ongoing support.
