⛰️ What’s been your favourite Mountain Walks adventure of 2026? 🥾💚

As we come to the end of our main walking season this week, we wanted to take a moment to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who has joined us in the mountains over the past eight months!

It's been another incredible year, with thousands of you joining us for guided walks, mountain challenges and skills courses across the Lake District and beyond.

We've climbed mountains, tackled some huge challenges, battled the occasional bit of British weather (and the dam heat waves!), enjoyed some spectacular views and, most importantly, shared plenty of laughs and made some fantastic memories along the way!

Whether you've joined us for the first time this year, been on countless adventures or have been walking with us for years, we genuinely appreciate every single one of you. Thank you for choosing Mountain Walks and for being part of what makes this little business so special. 💚

👏 And now, a VERY special thank you to our incredible team of Mountain Leaders!

These are the people who really make the magic happen.

They're the ones getting up at ridiculous hours, checking the weather, encouraging tired legs, sharing their knowledge, keeping everyone safe and making sure you have the best possible day in the mountains.

But it's so much more than that.

It's their enthusiasm, kindness, patience, professionalism and genuine love for what they do that makes a Mountain Walks adventure what it is.

We might organise the adventures, but it's our guides who bring them to life. 💚

We're incredibly lucky to have such a brilliant team of people representing Mountain Walks, and we're hugely grateful for everything they've done throughout another busy season. We really couldn't do it without them!

Of course, we're not quite finished for 2026, with our festive Christmas walks still to come! 🎄 But as our main season draws to a close, we're already looking forward to everything 2027 has in store.

What an amazing day on the Ambleside 22! ⛰️☀️

It was especially lovely to see so many returning clients joining us again today, alongside plenty of new faces, for this huge 22-mile challenge through the heart of the Lake District.

The weather was pretty much perfect and the views were absolutely stunning as we made our way around Grasmere, Langdale, Tarn Hows and the Ambleside area. It really is a beautiful route — but make no mistake, it’s a BIG walk! 💪

Everyone absolutely smashed it today. 22 miles is a serious achievement, so a massive well done to you all! 👏

Huge thanks to Jamie, Ben, Mike and Dave for leading the groups and helping make it such a brilliant day out. 🙌⛰️

Character building at its finest on Scafell Pike! ⛰️💨

Two small teams took on England’s highest mountain in some less-than-ideal weather. Thankfully, conditions were better than forecast, but it was still a seriously challenging day, with strong winds around the summit making everyone work hard for it!

Both groups pushed on, everyone made it to the summit and, most importantly, everyone made it safely back down again. 💪

A huge well done to everyone — a big mountain day in some big weather, and definitely one to be proud of! 👏

We were out on Helvellyn & the Edges today with this lovely lot! ⛰️👏

Striding Edge and Swirral Edge both tackled, three peaks ticked off and another brilliant day in the mountains!

A bit of morning drizzle certainly spiced things up, making the rocky terrain that little bit more challenging, but both groups did an awesome job and took it all in their stride. 💪

Massive well done to everyone today — a fantastic effort on one of the Lake District’s most iconic mountain days! 🙌⛰️

What a way to finish our Edale Skyline walks for the year! ⛰️👏

Last weekend we were joined by an amazing 70 walkers over two days, all taking on the huge 20-mile loop around the beautiful Edale Valley.

Saturday gave us a bit of everything, with heavy rain one minute and sunshine the next, while Sunday was pretty much perfect with blue skies and sunshine throughout. And when the views opened up… they were absolutely incredible! ☀️🌧️

The Edale Skyline is a massive day out and a proper walking challenge, so a huge well done to everyone who took it on. It was lovely meeting you all and we hope you had a fantastic day with us!

What a day on the Ullswater Way Challenge! ⛰️👏

Yesterday, three groups took on the huge 22-mile circuit of Ullswater, with over 1,000m of ascent along the way. It’s a seriously big day out and a fantastic long-distance challenge.

Thankfully, the weather was much better than forecast! We had an hour or so of rain and drizzle before things cleared through, rewarding everyone with some amazing views around Ullswater.

All three groups absolutely smashed it. A massive achievement on such a tough day, so huge well done to everyone who completed the challenge! 💪

Enjoy putting your feet up today — you’ve definitely earned it! 😄

What a tough day on Helvellyn & the Edges! ⛰️💨

We had a great group out with us today and, although we managed to stay dry, the wind was absolutely full on! It made for some really challenging conditions on the mountain, but this hardy bunch pushed on, bagging four peaks and taking on one of the edges along the way. 💪

Thankfully the sun was out too, giving us some cracking views on the return journey and a pretty spectacular end to a big day.

Massive well done to everyone today — that really wasn’t easy and you should all be incredibly proud of yourselves! 👏⛰️

NEW FOR 2027 – THE BUTTERMERE SKYLINE

Our Walk of the Year 2027 is here!

Next year we’re heading to one of the most spectacular parts of the Lake District for a brilliant mountain journey high above Buttermere.

The Buttermere Skyline takes in four iconic Wainwrights – Red Pike, High Stile, High Crag and Haystacks – with incredible views over Buttermere, Crummock Water and Ennerdale, and across towards Pillar and the Gables.

⛰️ 1,100m of ascent
🏔️ 4 Wainwrights
🕐 6–8 hours

And what a way to finish – Haystacks, famously Alfred Wainwright’s favourite fell and the place he chose for his ashes to be scattered.

A big day on the Coledale 10 Peaks Challenge on Saturday! ⛰️

34 walkers took on this brilliant 12-mile route through the North-Western Fells, ticking off 10 Wainwrights and a massive 1,600m of ascent along the way.

It’s a seriously tough challenge with climb after climb, so completing the full route is a huge achievement. Massive well done to everyone who joined us and put in such a brilliant effort throughout the day 👏
