I want to take a moment to acknowledge the Light Project Peterborough for their ongoing contributions to our community.
Last week, they dropped in on one of our group sessions, and it was great to see Lindsay engage directly with the class.

Their work in using local resources, like churches, to support older adults is truly valuable. It connects with my beliefs about making exercise accessible for everyone and ensuring that people can stay active and supported close to home. Thanks to the Light Project for your important contributions and the lovely write up in this weeks newsletter.

98-year-old Bill from Woodbridge does at least 40 press-ups every day without fail - 20 in the morning and another 20 in the evening.

He recently celebrated his 98th birthday and said he was hopeful he would still be doing his press-ups when he hits 100.

"The key to long life is getting good genes," he said. "I've had good genes passed down to me, and obviously they're working well."

I love coming across stories like this, people who are redefining aging and diagnoses. Whilst I don’t know Bill, I am lucky enough to meet so many great people in my line of work just like him.

In our chair community we have 3 women in their early 90’s all still practicing yoga and doing a wonderful job of it.

In my work at the Sports Centre I’ve met clients who have defined the odds against numerous long term conditions and one thing I’ve learned from them all is that mindset plays such a pivotal role.

When we stop seeing fitness as a purely physical activity and work on mental resilience and challenge limiting beliefs, incredible things can happen. 🫶

Huge respect to Bill 🙌🏻✨

Here’s a visual of the route we took and our checkpoint times.

Thank you to everyone who donated or tried to donate. I got all of your messages and it seems there was an issue with the link. 🫶 I appreciate you all for trying and have raised the issue with FB.

And that’s a wrap on

For me walking and being out in nature has always been a way to get out of my head for a while, connect and recharge. That’s exactly what we set ourselves the intention of today. To reconnect, explore a little more of the UK and have some time away from the norm.

We went up, went down, got rained on, went up and down some more 🤣 covered copious amounts of ground and terrain but met some lovely people and both have a huge amount of newfound respect for marathon runners! You guys are next level!

Whilst I’m pleased with my medal (Warwick had his hand delivered by the mayor of course 🤣) I’m mostly just proud of myself for doing something new and challenging to me 🫶✨

One week to go. There’s still time to sponsor me. The link will only let you do it in £4 donations for some reason but all of the funds go directly to Mind and are greatly appreciated. The work the do is so essential ✨

This year, I’ve decided to take on my first walking marathon — something that feels both exciting and a little daunting.

As many of you know, I recently completed my Level 4 Mental Health in Fitness qualification. It’s something I care deeply about, because for me, fitness has never just been about the physical side. It’s been a lifeline — whether that’s through yoga, strength training, or simply getting out for a walk to clear my head.

What I’ve come to realise, not just in my own journey but through working with so many of my clients, is how easy it is to drift back into living in our heads. Life gets busy, responsibilities take over, and before we know it, we’ve quietly placed ourselves at the bottom of the list.

The truth is, so many of us are carrying things we don’t always talk about — myself included.

In the UK, around 1 in 4 people experience a mental health problem each year, and for young people especially, those numbers are rising. Services are stretched, and too many people still feel like they have to cope on their own.

That’s a big part of why I’m doing this. I’m taking on this marathon to raise awareness and support for Mind — a charity that provides vital help to those who need it most.

If you’re in a position to support, I’d be incredibly grateful. And just as importantly, if you’re going through a tough time, please don’t keep it to yourself.

We’re here for you at Oundle School Sports Centre Whether you need a listening ear, some guidance, or help getting started, we can support you or point you in the right direction — including access to a 12-week supported referral programme.

You’re not alone 🤍
