FIGHTER OF THE DAY -
OLIWIER KUCWAJ 👊

Olivier impressed once again with some amazing performances. Having only been training around 7 months and just started competing this year, we gave him the nod to go for Nationals and boy did he rise to the occasion!! He brought home not one but THREE GOLDS 🏆🏆🏆 at his first nationals! He looked so comfortable on the mats and watching him confidently fight and believe in his own abilities was a proud moment! The highlight being how he dominated in the weight above his own as well! Not being phased by any thing thrown at him! Oliwier consistently turns up to training with a great attitude, always wanting to work hard and improve. His dedication to the sport already is amazing and it’s great to see the results reflect that. Well done Oliwier!

FIGHT OF THE DAY!
NICK HARGRAVE 👊

I (Beth) personally wanted to award fight of the day for the first time. There were SO many fights to choose from and everyone had major breakthroughs at this tournament. It was very hard to choose.
It was close between a few but the fight of the day went to Nick on his Points Performance! After starting his final and then a delay of over 40 minutes halfway through (due to a medical emergency) he re composed himself and the fight restarted. He fought like a veteran...like he had been doing this for years!! His movement was finally on point alongside his guard,,, he wasn't going backwards, he was circling ound and picking his shots with timing and confidence! Even when he suddenly fell behind he did not panic and got straight back into the fight. Taking it to extra time and winning comfortably by a 2 point lead! The win he needed to confirm that he is plenty good to be within this sport having only just taking it up under 2 years ago! Carry this confidence to the World championships Nick! We all can't wait to see how you do!

We would also just like to give a special mention to:

Autumn May:
she took to the mats for the first time in MMA Light and absolutely killed it!! Taking her first ever Gold and Title within this category! She listened well and stayed composed, take downs were landed and reversals were executed amazingly when needed. A very close second for fight of the day! Exceptional performance.

Adam Lock:
After atleast 8+ Years returned back to the competition scene like he never left! It was great to see him back on the mats and performing exceptional! Confidence and his fighting abilities have definitely improved!
Looking forward to the next competition already for him. Hopefully he will also join us abroad for some international comps too 👀👊

Big shoutout out to the parents and supporters who made the journey with us. The support we get is incredible and is what makes this club so special. You are our Unsung heroes!

We took a strong team of 12 competitors to the second leg of the Peterborough Series. Coach Beth was unable to join us but she would have been proud of the performances and the respect shown today.

The standard at this competition is so high, even in the novice categories. Our young beginners found this out first hand but put their skills to the test and gained valuable mat time. A few of our fighters found themselves on the shorter end of their height categories having been merged up, but they fought very bravely against much taller opponents. The whole team rose to the challenge of this event and gave us some really exciting fights!

💥 FIGHTER OF THE DAY....💥

⭐OLIWIER KUCWAJ⭐

There were so many great performances on the day which makes it difficult to pick just one but Oliwier stood out. He’s made so much progress since he last competed 3 months ago. In his semi final fight he displayed very clean head kicks, reverses and ridge hands, listening to coaching well and making adjustments to take the win. He faced a very good counter fighter in the final and matched him for most of the round, just falling behind towards the end but a fantastic effort. Oliwier consistently works hard in class, always ready to learn and responds to feedback quickly. It’s great to see these improvements on the mats!

A huge thank you to everyone that came to support the team. The energy and encouragement from the first category to the last didn’t drop no matter the outcome. Everyone chipped in to get fighters to the mats on time and help with media duties too which is very much appreciated.

A big shoutout to DJ too who joined us to assist with coaching. He was very enthusiastic all day and jumped in to coach a fighter by himself when asked. It’s great to see his confidence grow through coaching.

And finally thank you to Beth for putting your trust in me and for the opportunity to lead the team in her absence. It was a fantastic experience and I’ve learned a lot from it.

Well done Team Raven! A lot of great performances and experience gained. We now have a months break for the team to prepare for the WMAC British Open

🔥 RING CLASH 18 ! 🔥
June 6th 2026

Today we saw Autumn May step into the Ring for her first ever Full Contact Fight!
Stepping out of her comfort zone but challenging herself in a new discipline is a win in itself.

The result... UNANIMOUS DECISION to AUTUMN! ‼️🏆

We are all so proud of you!!
All the training is definitely paying off and to see you take the win really shows how much you have improved and developed over the past year!

A big shoutout and thank you goes out to Stu and the team at RKA who have been training Autumn alongside us and really developing her strength and confidence within lightcon/Fullcon/K1.

This past weekend 7 fighters travelled north to Brigg for another fantastic WMAC competition, one which we’ll be excited to return to next year. The team were thoroughly tested, be it trying new categories and age groups to some difficult matchups, they still brought home solid results!

Phoebe 🥈
Phoebe took a big step out of her comfort zone to enter a Korean forms for the first time! She’s worked very hard over the past few weeks to learn her pattern and fought back the nerves with an impressive performance, securing a strong score for her first attempt, bringing home a silver medal🥈We could not be any prouder and look forward to her competing again in this section!
She also competed in points with taking on corrections quickly and fought with confidence. Unfortunately she had to be pulled from her second fight due to an injury but despite that showed great strength!

Aaron 🥈🥉🥉
Aaron competed in rumble, points and points open weight. He is new to the age category but didn’t let that hold him back he kept his head up and fought with determination. He walked away with 🥈🥉🥉! Very proud of him

Autumn 🏆🏆🥈
Autumn competed in rumble, points and light con. She took 🥇 in rumble, 🥇 in points and 🥈 in light con. She had incredible timing and listened to her coaches really well. She earned her results and made her team proud!

Nick 🏆🥈🥉
Nick competed in both points and light con. He came up against the same opponent who was a strong fighter. He came away with 🥇 in points and 🥈 in light con after competing only competing in it 3x Prior.
In his Korean forms Nick is showing mass improvements constantly! He took a big step out of his comfort zone and competed a new form for the first time having only learnt it in less than 4 weeks! Throughout the performance he was solid and showed determination. A little faulter halfway; however despite that he was only off of the Gold and silver marks but 0.3/0.1 respectively! He earns himself a very deserved Bronze Medal 🥉.

Markuss
Markuss fought very well in both of his points fights. It was one of his best performances, scoring plenty of points and looking more confident on the mats. Unfortunately he didn’t quite get the luck he needed with the scoring and narrowly missed out on a bronze by a point! A great effort Markuss!

Dave 🥈
Dave stepped onto the mats once again in Points against a very fast fighter. He kept the fight close, scoring a great reverse punch, coming away with a silver medal,🥈 but with plenty of compliments from his opponent.

Jas 🏆🏆🏆🏆
Jas dominated the mats, taking 4 golds from 4 categories across Points and Light Con, placing 6th in the individual rankings! She looked at ease, controlling the space and picking her shots perfectly. Incredible performance Jas!

Last weekend saw a strong squad of 6 of us travel down to Cardiff to compete at the Welsh Open! After a longish trek for us we came back with some fantastic results!!

⭐Beth Jones 🏆⭐
Beth competed in traditional forms for the final time before her break from competition, and it was one of her best kata performances to date. Great power with her hand techniques, solids kicks and no mistakes secured her a score good enough for gold! A perfect way to start the competition for the team and her well earned break. We can’t wait to see her next kata performance when she returns to the mats

⭐Flora Witt 🥉⭐
Flora’s growing confidence off the mats shone through on the mats in Wales, fighting some very strong opponents. Flora performed very well in her semi final, brave and committed until the end but unfortunately the scores didn’t fall her way, her opponent was just a little bit faster. However, Flora was fantastic in the bronze medal fight against a much taller fighter. She confidently blocked every kick and countered well. When her opponent changed her approach Flora listened to instructions and adapted very well, seeing out the round to win the bronze medal. A great effort and continues to make big improvements!

⭐Adam Taylor🥉🥉⭐
It’s never easy having to wait to the end of the event for your categories, but it didn’t stop Adam giving it his all. He performed well in his Hands Only Points, keeping the scores close in the semi final, his opponent wary of his counter reverses. Adam walked away with the bronze. He also fought in Points against a very strong and experienced kicker. He fought well but gained a lot of experience and lessons learned, and came away with another bronze.

⭐Nick Hargrave🥈🥉🥉🥉⭐
As always Nick had very competitive categories which led to him coming up against some very seasoned international fighters; but he didn’t let that bother him. He showed massive improvements that are continuing to show and develop! He was listening to his coach and applied what was being said and with that we couldn’t have been prouder of his performances

⭐Autumn May 🏆🏆🏆 🥈🥈⭐
In her kicklight division being her first of the day was amazing. She was sharp in her movements and landing some good shots. She applied changes from her coach and was confident in the fight resulting in her getting a 1st place medal and being a Welsh champion!

In both her continuous divisions which were back to back she didn’t let that hold her down and continued to fight with determination! She came up some very solid fighters in these divisions and continued to shine! She took a 1st place and a 2nd place in her higher division

Her points & hands only divisions were outstanding! After fighting some of these fighters in her light con divisions she knew how to get those clean shots. A beauty of a hook hick landed which we all loved to see! Huge well done to autumn!! We are so proud of how you performed.

⭐David May 🏆🏆⭐
Finally got that taste of GOLD! He doesn't compete very often and he has made it his mission this year to be the year he competes and to attend his very First World Championships alongside the team! Although he has medaled numerous of times,, that Gold has always just been out of reach....until now! 💪

David competed in 2 sections last weekend being points and hands only!
After taking not one but TWO 1st place medals, proud was an understatement. He came up with smart moves which landed him to being Welsh open champion x2! 🏆🏆

After having came up with the same opponent in both these categories he knew what was needed and how to win. Improvements showed and with that he deserved to win these categories! Onwards and upwards,, the training has definitely started to show!

Well-done Team! Lots of improvements and experience earned! It's all finally coming together and showing within our fighting.

Next stop...WMAC NORTH LINCS OPEN.

Please join me in congratulating the following students who have been promoted to Junior Coach and Senior Coach for Raven Kickboxing:

⭐ Autumn May - Junior Coach ⭐

Although still fairly new to the sport Nick has shown tremendous development within his fighting and as a coach to the younger ones and more advanced fighters. Assisting from local to International competitions and even taking the lead when I have been unavailable for competitions.
He is a great addition to the coaching team and myself and the team are proud to have him stand proudly behind us.

Since training from a very young age and having fought at local, national and International at all ages it's safe to say Autumn has a tonne of experience she can pass on to the younger generation and still to the older ones.
She will be a fantastic addition to the team and I can't wait to see how she develops further.

These two alongside our other newly promoted Coach DJ will no doubt make a great impact to the team and I look forward to sitting and coaching alongside them!
