Selling the house. Building a 6x6 truck. Two lads, a dog, six years on the road.
Everyone’s got an opinion on it. Mates, family, blokes in the pub. So go on — say yours.
Six questions. Comment your answers like this: A B A B B A
And if you picked A on the last one, DM me. I mean it. I was where you are two years ago and I’d have killed for someone to say “just do it.”
Send this to the one person who’d say B to all of them.

THE TRAILER — if the stars align
Loads of you have been asking what’s going behind the truck, so here’s the plan.
First, straight up: the truck comes first. We leave Barnsley on 1 September 2027, trailer or no trailer. Finishing the Arocs is already a big job for one man. This is the one I’d love on top.
Why a trailer?
The first plan was a bike rack off the back. It only carried one bike and pulled weight off the front axle, which is no good for six years on the road with Sarah, the two lads and Peanut. The trailer drops at camp, so the truck can go where the trailer can’t, and nobody’s stuck waiting.
How it works
It’s built on an ex-military 20ft container trailer. It sits on the same big 16.00R20 tyres as the truck, at the same ride height, so it goes where the truck goes. It’s the same overall height as the truck too, so not an inch of space is wasted, with the same roof tent on top as an extra bed. It loads from the back: the body tilts, a tray winches out to the ground, and everything drives straight off.
What goes in it
* A 4-door Suzuki Jimny for town runs and tracks
* 2 Harleys, parked crossways at the front
* E-bikes for all four of us
* Surfboards, paddle boards and an inflatable kayak
* Snowboards for the mountains
* Scuba gear
* Clothes for every season, from summer to snow
* The lads’ skateboards and scooter
* A proper set of tools, because things will break
* Inverter and solar
And it earns its keep
Drop it at a beach or a festival, roll the canopy out down the side, and it’s a coffee bar paying its way while we’re off exploring.
These are renders, not the real thing yet. Would you build it, or keep it simple? 👇

In the words of Buster Moon — “dream big dreams”.
Straight up: getting the truck finished is a long shot on its own. Adding a trailer on top probably sounds mad. It might well be.
So here’s where we’re at with it. The truck gets done — that’s not up for debate. The trailer is the one we’d love. The rear bike deck is binned because the trailer does that job properly: it only ever carried one bike and pulled weight off the front axle doing it. Six years on the road with Sarah and the lads isn’t one bike and a rucksack. It’s a runabout, the tools, more solar and somewhere to put the lot.
Body tilts on the drawbar, back door drops as the ramp, the deck winches out to the floor, and everything rolls off at ground level. Drop it at camp and the truck goes where the trailer can’t.
If it gets built, brilliant — it’s a cool bit of kit and we’d love it. If it doesn’t, we’re still going. Because the point was never the rig. It’s getting on the road with my family and seeing what the future brings. I’d rather be out there in a truck that’s only just finished than sat in a workshop another year chasing perfect.

I spent years chasing the wrong things. Working every hour, telling myself it was for them.
It wasn’t. It was for me, and they were the ones paying for it.
Now every hour goes towards one thing: time together, on the road, while they still want to come with us.

We take our lads out of school in term time. We know what it costs and we pay it.
Five days out of a classroom is a fine. Six years out of the country is apparently a crisis. Nobody’s ever been fined for a kid sat in a classroom learning nothing.
I’m not telling anybody to skip school. I’m asking who decided five days in another country is worth less than five days in a chair.
Send this to the parent sat looking at flight prices for half term. What would you have done?
