14 attendees today, What goes up must come down with some weights being on the lighter side. 210lbs caught on the match lake and 100lbs caught on the mixed lake, still not a terrible day in the office.

Hockley Angling Club Update

It’s been a busy couple of weeks down at HAC.

✅ The bank work around part of the match lake is now complete
✅ Peg 18 on the mixed lake has had a refurb, thanks to Jack, Matt and Oliver.
✅ The access road has been levelled (hopefully it behaves itself for a while this time!

Just a quick reminder to stick to the 10mph speed limit when coming in and out.

Lake conditions:
Oxygen levels have been a bit low recently, so the aerators have been running more than usual to keep things steady. The fish have continued spawning, but we’re now starting to see things settle, with the carp beginning to feed again and catches picking back up. Please keep fish out of the water to a minimum.

The spare lockers have now been cut, so if you’d like one, please bring your own lock and claim one; it’s first-come, first-served

I haven’t had many photos sent through lately, so if you’ve had a decent session or caught something worth sharing, please do send them over—it’s great to show what’s coming out.

13 attendees, some exceptional weights today. Albert had a secret today: he’s not sharing it, bagging over 60lbs of fish. 260lbs of fish caught between the two lakes. That’s surprising when you consider the fact that we have had to contend with so many variables recently, weather-wise.

10 attendees. After a scorching Tuesday, Wednesday didn’t seem too bad in comparison. Spawning paired with a sudden spike in water temperature, both lakes fished pretty well in my opinion, 250 lbs. of fish caught between the 10 of them and between the two lakes.

Bank Holiday Weekend Update

Hope everyone’s enjoying the long weekend!

The first week of the bank stabilisation work has gone really well, and you can already see the difference. Once finished, the access will be much wider and safer. Big thanks to all members for your flexibility and patience while this is underway—it’s really appreciated 👏

Spawning Update
With the rise in temperature, spawning is now well underway.
Please keep away from all margin areas on both the mixed and carp lake so the fish can do their thing undisturbed.

We also had one of our members share some lovely wildlife shots this week, great to see the lakes looking so alive! Here are a few of the highlights.

11 attendees, with the work being done on the match lake, the guys split between the two. I couldn’t quite believe the weights, but the pictures confirmed it, 130lbs+ caught on the Mixed lake between the 4 of them and 210+ lbs. on the match. No wonder we have so many happy faces.

Sunday Update - Hockley Angling Club

Well… we’ve definitely had a bit of everything weather-wise over the last couple of weeks! Despite that, the lakes are still fishing really well, and there’s no sign of spawning just yet.

We’ve had some brilliant photos sent in too! Great to see so many of you getting out and enjoying it. Keep them coming!

Quick Reminder– bank stabilisation works start Monday 18th on the Match Lake and will run for around two weeks.

* The lake will stay open as normal
* We’ll just need access to certain areas, so please bear with us
* Some days might be a bit noisier than others

This is all part of improving things around the lake, extending the walkways, making it safer underfoot, and sorting the undercut banks.

Sunday Update – Hockley Angling Club

All three lakes have been fishing really well recently, with some cracking catches coming out – a few of which are attached to this post 👏
It’s been great to see so many members enjoying their time on the bank and sharing their success.
We also have some lovely new arrivals around the fishery – 12 little ducklings have made an appearance 🦆💛 Always a great sign of a healthy environment.

With temperatures now rising, spawning is imminent, so please take extra care, avoid known spawning areas, and always prioritise fish welfare while on the bank.

I wanted to share a lovely moment from this week where one of our members took the time to teach my son how to fish using a feeder. It perfectly sums up the club – everyone is always happy to share tips, advice, and lend a hand, whether you’re new to fishing or have been doing it for years.
