Wilkinson & Millard Crowned British Champions with Perfect Wakes Colne Performance

Under glorious sunshine at Wakes Colne, Round 6 of the 2026 British Sidecarcross Championship delivered championship glory, dramatic racing and plenty of emotion as Brett Wilkinson and Joe Millard secured their fifth British title in commanding fashion.

There had been concerns ahead of the weekend after a frightening crash at the Lithuanian Grand Prix left championship leaders Wilkinson and Millard battered and bruised. Wilkinson in particular required hospital treatment following the incident and arrived at Wakes Colne carrying injuries. However, after being cleared to race, the defending champions lined up determined to continue their title charge.

Race 1

Any doubts over their fitness were quickly erased when Wilkinson and Millard blasted into the lead from the start, taking the holeshot and immediately opening a gap on the chasing pack.

Once out front, the reigning champions were untouchable. Controlling the race from start to finish, they delivered another dominant performance to claim victory and, more significantly, secure the 2026 British Sidecarcross Championship crown.

The win confirmed their fifth British Championship title with one race and an entire round still remaining in the season.

Behind the leaders, the battle for the remaining podium positions was fiercely contested. George Kinge and Liam Hodges impressed with a strong ride to second place, comfortably ahead of Tony Grahame and Jack Watson in third. Stuart Brown and Jack Wilkinson completed the top four after another consistent performance.

Championship runners-up Anthony Milliar and Jon Hunt endured a difficult opening race. Running well below their usual pace, the pair fought through adversity to finish 17th. It later emerged that Hunt had sustained an injury during the race, explaining their struggles.

With Grahame and Watson securing third place, valuable championship points were gained in the fight for second overall, setting up an intriguing battle heading into the season finale.

Race 2

Race 2 followed a familiar script at the front as Wilkinson and Millard once again exploded from the gate to claim the holeshot. Looking completely at ease despite the injuries sustained just days earlier, they set the pace around the demanding Wakes Colne circuit and steadily stretched their advantage.

Milliar and Hunt looked much more competitive in the second outing, charging through the field in an effort to recover crucial championship points. Their task became easier when their nearest rivals in the standings, Grahame and Watson, suffered mechanical problems that ended their challenge.

The race also featured several dramatic incidents.

A heavy crash saw passenger Liam Hodges ejected from the chair over a jump, suffering a broken collarbone in the process.

Shortly afterwards, another serious incident occurred when Rebecca Marshall, passenger for the #156 machine, was thrown from the chair and hit the ground heavily. Medical staff attended immediately on track, resulting in the race being stopped with a red flag after 16 minutes.

As more than 50 percent of the race had been completed, officials declared the result with no restart required.

That handed Wilkinson and Millard their second victory of the day, completing a flawless weekend and providing the perfect way to celebrate their newly secured British Championship success.

Looking Ahead

The 2026 British Sidecarcross Championship heads to its seventh and final round at Canada Heights on Sunday 6 September.

While Wilkinson and Millard have already wrapped up the title, the championship battle is far from over. Several positions remain undecided, and with valuable points still on the table, the fight for the remaining places in the standings promises an exciting conclusion to the season.

JACK WATERS MAKES HISTORY WITH EMX65 EUROPEAN TITLE AS BRITISH RIDERS STAR AT LOKET

Great Britain’s junior motocross talent delivered a standout weekend at Loket, Czech Republic, as Jack Waters made history in the EMX65 class while Harry Dale and Cohen Jagielski flew the flag in the EMX85 European Final.

Waters became the first British rider to win the EMX65 European Championship, following up second place in the opening moto with a commanding race-two victory to secure the gold medal on 47 points. In EMX85, Dale showed race-winning pace by taking victory in the opening moto before finishing fourth overall after a four-way tie on 40 points, while fellow Brit Cohen Jagielski underlined the strength of the British contingent with seventh in race one and tenth overall.

EMX85
Dale produced one of the rides of the weekend in the opening EMX85 moto. After avoiding trouble around the outside of the first turn, he worked his way forward from fifth, passed Arthur Annelot and then reeled in early leader Theo Kolts before taking the lead on lap seven of twelve.
Once in front, Dale was not troubled, setting the fastest lap of the race and taking a 3.2-second victory. Jagielski also impressed in the same moto, running at the front in the early stages before finishing seventh.

The second moto proved more difficult for Dale after he was boxed in at the opening turn and had to charge through the field. He recovered to sixth, leaving him tied on 40 points with three other riders and fourth overall on countback. Jagielski’s weekend total placed him tenth overall in the EMX85 standings.

EMX65
Waters put himself firmly in title contention with second place in race one. After moving through the leading group, the young Brit kept his composure to finish runner-up behind Lucas Bos and ahead of championship rival Gines Alacid.
In race two, Waters made the decisive move early, sweeping into the lead before the opening lap was complete. From there he controlled the race at the front, taking the win by 5.4 seconds and sealing a landmark European title for Great Britain.
Waters finished the weekend on 47 points to become the first-ever British EMX65 European Champion, adding a major milestone to British youth motocross.

Heat, Dust and Determination Define Round 5 of the British Sidecar and Quad Championships at Culham

Round 5 of the British Sidecar and Quad Championships delivered a weekend of intense racing at Culham, with competitors battling not only each other but also challenging conditions. Extreme temperatures and heavy dust made for a demanding event, testing riders’ endurance, concentration and machine reliability throughout the weekend.

The hot, dry weather left the circuit heavily rutted and technical, with deep sand and reduced visibility creating additional challenges across both championship classes.

Sidecars: Wilkinson and Millard Dominate

Championship leaders Brett Wilkinson and Joe Millard ( #1) continued their impressive form, securing victory in both races to take a commanding overall win in Round 5 of the British Sidecar Championship.

A notable addition to the grid was Grand Prix rider Dan Foden ( #10), who made his first British Championship appearance of the season alongside passenger Ryan Henderson. Foden used the event as an opportunity to test his recovery after recent thumb surgery and showed encouraging pace, taking the holeshot in Race 1.

As the weekend progressed, the demanding circuit became increasingly cut up, with deep sand and holes creating a physically punishing challenge for the sidecar crews.
Race 1 was interrupted by a red flag after Kieran and Connor Sadler ( #505) were involved in a heavy crash just 17 minutes into the race. Both riders were assessed by the medical team before being transported to a nearby hospital for precautionary checks. Thankfully, both are reported to be okay.

Meanwhile, championship contenders Ant Milliar and Jon Hunt ( #12) encountered misfortune in Race 2 when a stuck throttle issue hampered their performance. The mechanical problem restricted their challenge and resulted in a fourth-place overall finish, allowing Tony Grahame and Jak Watson ( #131) to reduce the points gap in the championship standings.

Quads: Walker Takes Clean Sweep

Sunday's quad racing proved equally demanding as the track continued to deteriorate, becoming deeper and bumpier with every race.

Qualifying saw Dafydd Davies ( #15) set the fastest time, ahead of Tom Day ( #139) and reigning champion Harry Walker ( #1).

Veteran racer Carl Bunce ( #585) reminded everyone of his experience and racecraft by claiming all three holeshots in the British Championship races. Despite racing against competitors half his age, Bunce was a constant factor at the front throughout the day.

The event also marked a welcome return to competition for Paul Winrow ( #73), who delivered a strong and consistent performance across the weekend.

At the sharp end of the field, however, it was Harry Walker who proved unstoppable. The reigning champion completed a perfect weekend with three race victories, though he was pushed all the way by Bunce, Davies and Day in a series of hard-fought battles around the Culham circuit.

A special mention goes to #175 Emma McQuaid, who delivered another consistently impressive performance, finishing third in all three races and earning her first-ever British Championship podium.
